I'm always improving my heavy clay soil. This is the first time I've bought this brand of compost with cow manure. It exceeds my expectations! Only one small rock between two bags. I've bought a Texas brand for many years but got disgusted with the amount of rocks and debris. Highly Recommend this brand/combination!

Best Stuff!!!

Gee April 20, 2026

With all the news articles we're hearing about fertilizer shortages because "waterways are blocked off" and "nat. gas shortages so we can't make fertilizer," etc., etc. ....how can you beat Timberline's cow poop and compost fertilizer, right!!?!!! I put some Timberline mixed with fresh garden soil on my garlic bed that was popping up after the very cold winter and, boy, did they take off !!! Tripled in size in no time at all. I have bought Timberline many times over many years and I keep coming back. Nothing else gives me as much garden-bang for my buck as Timberline.

Mulch, rocks, and soil

Chauncy May 24, 2026

These bags contain a good amount of compost and manure but a good portion is also wood chips and some rocks. The wood chips will eventually break down turn to soil but maybe over several years. For seed starting I like to run this soil through a screen first.

This isn’t the quality I thought it would be nor what I’m used to. Was my 1st time to purchase but probably won’t buy again. It has large chunks of clay %26 rocks large enough that I removed them bc I was afraid one would be slung by the mower into my patio doors.

Lacks the requirments for actual Compost

Thomas May 14, 2026

its way too alkaline. pH of 8. causing deficiencies in pots. teltale sign that it wasnt allowed to mature enough during composting. This and the fact that it is mostly mulch makes this product borderline unusable. Make sure you are using this with acidic soil and inground not in containers

I dont understand why this product is labelled cow manure and compost. It is literally like a mixture of mud and sand from the sea shore with some few wood chips added. It is very poor soil with very poor drainage. You pour it out on a garden bed and after watering, water just sit there for sometime before draining into the ground. It is so heavy i can barely lift the 40lb bag in comparison with the expert garderner 60 lb bag that i am able to carry into the garden easily. Please dont waste your money on this.

i don't think BIG rocks are part of compost.

anonymous June 2, 2026

i mam, honestly, this is good fertilizer. it really does work wonderfully.. i order quite a few bags. the only complaint i really have is the fact that, obviously it goes by weight... already half of the bags i purchased had multiple, very large rocks in the compost.. now i understand that small rocks could accidentally be m mixed in that's no biggie.. i wasnt even upset with the first few large ones i came across.. but onse i lost count of how many( very large) ocks i had already pulled from the bag, i started getting pretty irritated. It was very obvious at that point, that it wasn't an accident that there was a rock in it. like is like not cool.. i don't know if I'll purchase anymore.. but the product you to get.. does work.. and well to

Not at all like the description says it is.

Kj May 22, 2026

I should've definitely listened to the people in the reviews. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for!! Because it's under $3 I'm not going to tell you not to buy it because truthfully you're not losing if you purchase to get your own opinion. What doesn't work for me may work for you!

Worse than a waste! If I could give this zero stars I would. The product is not what the label claims it is. This is Not Compost of any kind! This product is actually clay, mixed with sand, a little water, and a very very small amount of black pigmented wood chips. Is there any manure in it?? I Don’t think there is. When this material dries it is as hard as concrete. Please be warned, this will ruin the soil in your garden. I really feel deceived and cheated for having spent my money on this .

Mostly sand and sticks

Oakislandguy February 23, 2026

This was cheap as dirt but unfortunately there wasn't much dirt in the bag. There was an abundance of sticks, saw dust and sand.
