I've been trying on my own to create perfectly clear ice, however, it was only in bulk and I created a mess. This product creates the most perfect round, clear ice balls, ready for a classy cocktail that fit nicely into my old fashion glasses. Now the advice I'd give the manufacturer. 1. provide clear instructions for the first time user 2. being an ex-engineer I figured it out 3. new users, make note of (and or take pictures with your phone) as you unbox and disassemble the ice maker. 4.keeping the original orientation of the silicon inserts makes it a breeze when reassembling it. 5. once frozen, patience is your friend, and with small gentle movements on the out tangs will allow air in between the foam insulator box and the silicon inserts. Each tiny movement turns into bigger and bigger movements and wha-la, your frozen ice cube silicon form will be in your hands ready for separation. 6. the waste ice at the bottom of the foam insulator can be melted by running hot water over it or let stand at room temp until it comes out. -Have fun. -You'll be pleasantly surprised at the results 24-36 hours later.
These molds work fantastic, and are great alternative to buying one of those expensive gravity tools to create ice balls.
Though removing the ice ball holders once frozen takes a bit of effort, it pales in comparison to the ease of use of this product. You simply fill the reservoir with water, gently insert the ice ball holders and freeze. 1,2,3. It's that easy and the ice balls come out perfectly clear! I am an avid bourbon drinker and I love this product!
This works great. The cubes aren't perfectly clear, but they're pretty close. It takes some strength to pull the silcone molds out of the reservoir. It takes on the high side of the recommendedtime, nearly 40 hours to make 4 cubes
It works well! I wish it had written instructions instead of going to a website to know that the water fills in the bottom too! But it works well and is fun and impressive.
I could not find the fill line and, the first time, only ended up with half an ice ball. Then I went to YouTube, and the presenter suggested just putting in the water with the molds in place and pouring out the excess. Another concern is that it only makes 4 ice balls at a time, so you need to plan ahead if you are having company. Still, I think the ice balls look attractive and do not melt quickly.
First the positive: It makes great, clear, spherical ice cubes (in fact I'm have an Old Fashioned now). As for the minor negatives - this unit is large. Make sure you have enough space in your freezer to store it. The other nit I have is that the inserts are tough to put in and take out. Other than the above I am happy to have clear ice cube balls. Very impressive when i have guests over!
This was disappointing in that there isn't anything covering the Styrofoam. The ice maker looks like they forgot to put the out layer of plastic on to protect the Styrofoam.
Can't figure out how to use it!!! No instructions included in package. Can't even figure out how to open the unit. May be a brilliant product but if your customers can't figure it out it's worthless. Do better.
The worst product ever purchased. I could not remove ice after it's frozen. The outer area is made out of styrofoam very cheap material that can easily break while struggling to remove ice. I want refund asap!
