Tony’s Chocolonely 70% Dark Chocolate Bar, 6.35 oz

According to ConsumerLab.com, Tony's Dark Chocolate is very high in flavanols, beneficial nutrients in cocoa, and is low in lead and cadmium. Other chocolates on the market do not compare to this chocolate bar in those areas. That's good enough for me, but it's a plus that Tony's has made a priority to encourage good practices for growers and the people who harvest cocoa beans.

For a long time I thought that I didn't like any chocolate. Eventually, as an adult, one of my friends who self identifies as a chocoholic asked me what kind of chocolate I was trying. I told her it was usually the cheap stuff because I never end up liking it. She challenged me to try some more expensive chocolate to see if I just didn't like the cheap chocolate. Not expecting much, I bought a few different brands: Ghirardelli, Godiva, and Lindt. I LOVED the Godiva. I was extra surprised to find I liked the dark chocolate more than the milk chocolate. One day, I found Tony's in Walmart, and decided to give it a try. To me, it tastes at least as good as Godiva, and the wrapper talks about trying to improve the chocolate trade. So, I made the switch. Since then, Tony's Chocolonely has been my favorite brand of chocolate. It's now the only one I buy for myself (and for gifts).

Good flavor not overly sweet, good hefty piece. My only problem is it's hard to cut it into serving pieces. Its not shaped into even breakable little pieces. I tried using a knife but it crumbled so then I just used my hands and it was a little better. Overall good dark chocolate .

If you're a dark chocolate lover, this hits the spot. There's not much sugar, and it's pretty bitter, but not to the point where it's inedible. It's great for baking, and has an absurd amount of iron. 1/6 of the bar is 25% iron! As a person with anemia, this is great as well. There is no dairy, so it's not creamy at all. I usually pair this with pretzels or a snack.

Fabulous chocolate bar! My elderly mother has one Vice, chocolate. She only allows herself a small piece and it must be dark chocolate. Have you ever tasted dark chocolate?? Like 70% minimum cacao? It's hideous! But my 84 yr old mom is a true connossieur. I got one of the fabulous Toney chocolate bar for my mom to give her something good quality and with great taste! It's so creamy and delicious! Guess what?? She loves it!!

This candy bar encourages conversation, both because of the unexpected nature of its sections and its fair trade origin. It encourages us to ask questions like “exactly what size piece of chocolate would I like right now” and “is child slavery really worth the taste of other brand's chocolates when I could savor some ethical Tony's chocolate instead?”

This is a steal based on the pepuce point at Walmart. There are only two downsides I can think of. One, the sugar content is high at 8 grams per serving and finally Two, it is unfortunate that the bar is made with non-uniformed squares or rectangules across the top which basically means that is virtually impossible to breakoff and share an even sized serving. Great for children maybe, but not so much for someone monitoring their nutritional content.

This bar is a real dark chocolate bar with quality ingredients. Just not for me as I prefer a bar with a higher fat content or milk. I freeze my chocolate to limit the chances I will eat it in one go but this bar is just a little too thick and brittle for that.

when i was a kid, aside from lemons, i didn't like super tart or highly bitter things. so dark chocolate was a definite no-no. id even pick tha little bits out of mint chocolate ice cream, or scoop around them til they were just about the only things left in the bowl. throw my taste buds changed and i started craving tart, bitter things. along with dark chocolate...extra sharp cheddar, grapefruit, %26 cranberry juice are also now atop my list of enjoyments. i usually get the giant special dark chocolate hersheys bar, which is rated at about 45% cocao... really enjoy those. still, i wanted to try something different... something stronger! this definitely isn't stronger, very mild. with a 70% cocoa grade i was expecting a bit more bite. it also isn't as sweet as hershey's dark another thing is it's very hard. if you're into letting chocolate melt in your mouth, and looking for something a step stronger %26 less sweet than milk chocolate, it might be good to give a go.

Tastes good and has an excellent review from consumerlab.com. However I may not buy again because it is hard to serve. You need a knife to break off chunks and then you have little shreds of chocolate around. I would buy again if they had easily separated squares of chocolate.Yes and No
