[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Traegers the best smokers hands down. After five years with my pro 22 producing delicious everything, I finally upgraded to the 780. Exceeded my expectations, a beast of a machine with simplicity. I could write a book but keeping it short, great job Traeger as always.
This grill along with the wifire app makes it almost too easy to grill perfect meat. In the first two weeks I did multiple 20+ pound briskets and they turned out perfect every time. The app makes it so easy to monitor and adjust temperature; almost too easy!
I bought two 780's for Christmas presents and had them assembled by the dealer before bringing them home. While pulling into my garage the smoke stacks caught the garage door header and damage both grills. One grill had minor damage that I was able to repair, but the 2nd grill was beat up to the point that I needed to replace the barrel. I called Traeger for assistance in getting the parts for repairing the grill and what they did next was way above what I expected. Instead of sending out parts to repair the damage they sent me new grill free of charge and covered all expenses for sending the damaged one back to them.
This is my first Traeger and it is really nice. We're having trying new recipes and enjoying the smoky flavor of pellet grilling. Loving the convenience of set it and forget it and the digital probe with WiFi. The best thing we've cooked so far is tri tip. It was so juicy and tasty. Overall purchase was totally worth it!
I have owned and cooked on every type of grill, smoker, and oven. Charcoal, gas, electric. Nothing compares to the simplicity, convenience, quality and consistency of a Traeger. By far the best grill/smoker I have ever owned. I am a Traeger fan for life! A must have if you love you cook. My wife plans dinner around the Traeger so she can cook on it! Also, the WiFire technology.... game changer! Fantastic product all around.
Assembly was surprisingly easy. App makes cooking easy. My one issue keeping it from five stars is that the grill doesn't impart as much smoky flavor in the meat as I would like. I'm sure there is a hack I need to learn. But overall very happy with it.
There are good things and bad things about this grill. To begin, it is incredibly easy to get started, it's very intuitive (love the wifi) and it is very pleasing to the eye. An honorable mention is what looks like bullet proof customer service and product support plan. The bad is the dust created by the the incenerated pellets. Because there is a fan that circulates the heat, it also circulates a bit of the dust. It is also recommended to purchase a shop vac to vacuum the dust. Also, the chimney end of the grill seems to have a hot spot, as well as the edges of the grease ramp. I noticed my left rack of ribs (chimney side) was cooking quicker than the others. It could have been the rack of ribs but my gut tells me it's hotter on that end. The smoke is a bit mild but I can live with that with the ease of use. Overall, I like the grill, however I find myself charing steaks on my green egg and finishing them on the Traeger.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] WiFire will not work. Big reason I bought this model. Read many other reviews with the same issue. Please feel free to contact me. Great food. I've used the grill every other day since. I'm very happy with my purchase just need that wifire to work for 5 stars.
There is no question that the food that comes of the Traeger is amazing but the Pro series is still a disappointment. I would argue it is an amaizing outdoor convection oven rather than the top of the line grill it is touted as. This unit does not provide a heavy smoke profile to the food nor does it have the ability to sear. To pull off either with the Pro series requires the purchase of third party equipment. Now I see why it is the cheapest of all three lines. The sad part is I would have paid more for a better grill but I was sure I was buying the best....unfortunately I was not.
Quite possibly the biggest piece of trash. used 5 times and followed the directions to a T. Stopped working and troubleshooted online. After deducing, the Auger was jammed. Instead of returning the smoker, followed the Traeger instructional video to fix a jammed auger. And wouldn't you know it the screw on the hopper is not threaded right. I'm a big fan of what Traegers can do but extremely disappointed with only 5 uses. I'm hoping this is just a 1 time mistake but based on the reviews of this product I feel that there's a common thread
