no need for cartridges. it helps contain the smell of litter waste efficiently. it could be a diaper pail as well. I will say that when you open it though... the smell may be intense unless your using a clumping litter. moisture will build up and need cleaned out weekly for me. unless I use a clumping litter which is no issue. uses traditional 13 gallon trash bags. it's definitely stainless steel or something. it's really good quality for the sale price.
exactly what i needed after quality of my old litter keeper went so far downhill it kept my whole second floor smelling of old cat feces. i use a natural wood litter which helps a lot to absorb smells so they don't smack you in the face when you open the door to drop.in waste. yes it does stink this bin is metal and doesn't use bags with odor locking tech that absorbs ammonia from urine and the smell of feces, so no plastic or bags that absorb a lot of smell. but it's also a testament to how well it keeps the odor trapped because i never smell anything unless i opened the lid. but now if their is particularly smelly poop or if the small of all the waste gets too strong but bag isn't full enough to replace it dump some of the used wood litter over the top a nice amount that fully covers all the waste. the wood fibers absorb all the smell and ammonia and gases so now when i open the lid it just smells like my litter which smells like pine and went from having to do full change out of litter and cleaning of litter box 3x/month before wood litter. then started using all natural wood litter and their is never smell except right when cat goes to bathroom just like humans. but once buried no smell which makes my new metal odor sealing litter pail 100% the right buy. except it just isn't worth the usual 70-75 dollar price tag. i got on sale lucky for $40 bucks and that's worth it because it will last a whole year at least. Never absorb smells you can use your own garbage bags but i actually bought ubbi pail bags because they are perfect size for litter pail and perfect size for old litter when changing litter box. they absorb smells and you get a box of 75 for $20 dollars. using one a week they last a full year or more. you can't find good thick odor absorbing garbage bags better than these for that price. so when I first saw it up close and seemed like it just doesn't seem to close right enough to seal in the odors. but it does. as long as yours doesn't arrive with an uneven top like my first one the white pail I replaced with a chrome pail which still feels loose but rubber gaskets keep smells locked in for good. the locking mechanism seems like it will break soon and easily but it's actually made to be able to unlock and open easily with one hand. it definitely isn't as cheap as it feels, just made for easier faster use the less time top is open for those who use like clay litters that barely absorb smells and using regular trash bags then yes you'll get hit with smell hard from gases and ammonia that are trapped inside with nothing to help absorb the gases and ammonia (ammonia i say separately because it's important to know how full of ammonia cat pee is) and gasses from poo with no plastic to soak into or bags that are made to absorb the ammonia and other gasses then you should expect that those trapped gasses smells will come out. thankfully my wood litter absorbs all of that. so when on sale for 40 bucks the pail is worth it but not 70
bought this to hold bagged used litter til garbage day. works perfectly for this. no smell comes from the can until opened. the lid is very secure. it doesn't take up a lot of room %26 looks very good. overall very pleased with this can.
Exactly what I thought it would be !!
My daughter and I love this trash can for cat litter. I got it for my daughter's cat. The inserts keep the odors away. Bags are easy to replace. We also like that it locks.
Helps cut down feces odor! Easy to use when changing the bag and cuts down on mess on the floor. Have 3 cats.
I've long been searching for a disposal system like this that actually holds in the smell. This actually works. I've coupled it with a litter paws freshener block in the bottom of the pail below doubled 13 gallon trash bags (that was the closest size bags we had on hand). I've checked a few times in the last few days we've had it and I can barely smell anything with my nose right up next to the pail itself. As long as you put the bag of your choice in according to the directions, this does work amazingly well. There is no freshener disk holder in the bottom for a freshener block as the listing shows in the one I received, but I'm ok with that. I just placed mine in the bottom and then put in the doubled up trash bags. This was definitely worth the price for the smell retention alone! The scoop it comes with is also very sturdy and not the cheap, thin plastic kind you find everywhere. It's bigger than I was imagining too, which is great for our clowder of 4. I just ordered a second system for our second floor litter box area.
I like this metal covered waste pail. Perfect for my needs.
Perfect for any cat owner!
We bought for our dog's pee papers. They stink terribly and wanted something like a diaper pail. This unit is quite small for the price, and the odor locking hatch is not sealed well enough, we thought, to block odors. We need something a bit larger and has true odor blocking capabilities that's not so expensive. I think we paid over $75 for this can. Returned it.
