Recommended for fans of broad, R-rated comedy

Michael October 30, 2026

Universal presents Bad Moms in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC at 2.40:1, preserving its theatrical widescreen composition. Shot digitally, the film has a deliberately soft, slightly diffuse appearance rather than razor-sharp detail. Faces, clothing, and household interiors show adequate definition, though fine textures can appear subdued. Colors are lively, particularly in the supermarket, party sequences, and brightly decorated homes. Contrast is generally consistent, while occasional pale skin tones and mild video noise reflect the photography more than serious encoding problems. The image is clean and attractive, if not a demonstration-quality transfer. The result is satisfying. The English DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 soundtrack (48 kHz/24-bit) is unexpectedly vigorous for a dialogue-driven comedy. Party scenes and musical montages deliver energetic surround activity, punchy bass, and impressive clarity. Crowded bars, PTA gatherings, and the growl of a powerful car add convincing environmental detail. Dialogue remains well anchored in the center channel, with strong intelligibility even when music and background activity intensify. Quieter scenes are appropriately restrained. English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles are included. The lossless mix is arguably the disc's strongest technical feature. Three HD supplements offer roughly 46 minutes of material: a Gag Reel (6:02), Deleted Scenes (16:36), and Cast %26 Mom Interviews (23:52). The deleted footage includes alternate jokes and extended material, although scenes cannot be selected individually. The interviews pair cast members with their real mothers, providing a warmer, more personal counterpoint to the movie's outrageous humor. There is no director's commentary or substantial making-of documentary. The original two-disc package includes a DVD copy and a digital redemption voucher; the old digital offer should not be assumed valid today. The original pressing also featured a slipcover. Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Kathryn Hahn make an entertaining trio of overworked mothers rebelling against impossible expectations. Hahn's uninhibited comic energy is a standout, while Christina Applegate makes a delightfully overbearing PTA antagonist. The screenplay leans heavily on raunchy jokes, exaggerated situations, and familiar lessons about work-life balance. Not every gag lands, but the leads' chemistry gives the film momentum and occasional genuine warmth. Universal's Blu-ray pairs a pleasant, somewhat soft picture with outstanding 7.1 lossless sound. Extras are modest but enjoyable, and the DVD adds convenience. Recommended for fans of broad, R-rated comedy, particularly at a bargain price. The audio presentation is stronger than expected, though the film and extras are less remarkable.

the movie is awesome and I have let 4 people borrow it to find out they loved it so much they bought it. When you can relater to being an over driven mother that does everything she can and one day you realize how ungrateful or mistreated by your husband is this will make you laugh!!!

Moms will absolutely love this movie! Shows what mothers have to deal with on a daily basis. Should make their husbands watch with them. So they better understand what it's like to be a mom.

Snowball November 22, 2016

It was funny. Exciting, and really hit home that we run around wild for the kids but it is ok to say no. Kids will survive with out us and make their own meals and still be happy.
