For eventual take down or removal mounting, Velcro really has come along on the consumer part of things. This Velcro product isn't like any of the other stuff we have been familar with. It is like hook & hook mounting, instead of hook & loop (the shaggy part).
Lining them up is better, though different; be sure to press them together, not just mount or butt them up; like with the shaggy piece. Holding power (to itself), really hasn't been an issue with Velcro, staying in place once mounted has. Anyone who has used this stuff, knows that the adhesive part of this holding equation, is the weakest part. Well except for thin paint, it has been good for peeling that, paper & a few other things off the wall.
So far, it seems like it has a better adhesive on it, but only time will tell, & this isn't going to drip or run on you like glue. I have used industrial Velcro with some top notch adhesive bindings that need a torch & a blade to remove. Something about halfway in the consumer world would be nice. I believe this is that gap filler.
I do want to point out that the paint on your wall may be an issue. I have had some "trouble" with adhesive staying in place for stickers on that no mark/no mar paint. The no scuff, no fingerprint stuff. It's made to repel these things. So do keep that in mind when using this or any adhesive. If you can't change the paint, you'll have to scrub it with alcohol or sand paper to get a decent mount.
I did a quick wash with regular rubbing alcohol on the wall & the device (router) I was mounting but it DID NOT stay to the wall. It fell in the night I am sorry to say. The Velcro was clamped together, the sticky stuff didn't stay on the wall. I may try mounting the phone holder in the car, that may be safer.
For semi permanent mounting like the router I used, it works fine. Long term semi-permanent mounting too. It's not going to be that long term & isn't fighting the elements. The adhesive feels pretty strong too. Outside, on the walls, the soffit or things like that. This does very well. It is very strong & if you round the corners, you could get away with it being your go to temporary mount for small tools.
