Velpeau CMC Joint Thumb Arthritis Support Brace - Soft & Hard Plastic Compose - with Thumb Compression Sleeve, Stabilizes Thumb CMC Joint Without Limiting Hand Function (Blue, Left - Large)

This is my 2nd time purchasing this brace. The first one lasted quite a while but separated between the blue and gray sections on the palm side at the base of the thumb. I think the new one will last longer because the 2 colors are not joined in a straight line there. I still prefer the value of this brace by far over the brand recommended by my orthopedic surgeon. its basically one-third of the price and is of equal value. Another big plus is that the brace comes with a second strap, which extends the life of the brace immeasurably.

This brace is very comfortable and supportive. The thumb stocking that is included prevents the brace from rubbing against my skin. It is just as supportive as the $140.00 brace that the OT suggested I purchase.

i am a 68 year old drummer with arthritis in my hands, especially my thumbs. these braces allow me to continue playing. I can do 3 nights in the clubs and not suffer for days.

I have stage 4 arthritis in my cmc joint (thumb). I am in constant pain. Every day. I didn't believe this could work, but at this point I'll try anything. This brace took the pressure off almost immediately. I still had pain, but it was tolerable. There were days I had no extra pain, zings, numbness. This thing is amazing. I did bite the bullet and decided to have surgery but plan on wearing this brace during healing. If you have pain, you need this. It may not take away all the pain, but it will make you smile for the first time in weeks, like it did me.

I have arthritis in the CMC joint of my thumb-- this brace does keep the base of my thumb from moving- it is a lot cheaper than the custom one I had made for my left thumb-- there is a sleeve to wear under the brace which I presume will need during the summer when it is hot

I have a very similar brace for my other hand, in the same size. I not only used the chart here to measure my hand, I used Velpeau's own paper measuring tape that comes with their products (they make an excellent elastic thumb support sleeve/liner that I'd purchased previously.) The other brand has a similar measurement scale, and the medium size fits like a glove. The Velpeau chart also advises a size medium, but it's noticably larger. There's too much room even after adjusting all the straps, and the plastic is misshapen around the thumb opening (above the adjustable part.) It sits right on my CMC joint and is very painful. I'm not sure whether to try the small size. This doesn't look like it'll hold up very well, you can see the edges of the glue where the two pieces were joined. The company that makes the brace I like has been out of the size I need for months, or else that would have been what I purchased. After reading other reviews both here and elsewhere, I'd probably not purchase this again. I like their other products and I've even switched out the Velcro straps on my other brace for theirs, this brace just sadly misses the mark.

For a few seconds it's good, but then it hurts horrible between the thumb and forefinger, the blue piece is very hard, I left it in a drawer because it doesn't work for me and I don't recommend it, I even put it on with a piece of silicone and the pain did not calm down

This is very good product if it stays together, however with this one, the rubber came apart within two weeks as is stated in other reviews. They really need to fix that flaw. I have another one that hasn't come apart that relieves my pain more than any other product at the base of my thumb.
