We have standard poodles that require daily brushing. Our old slicker brush finally died, so had to order another. My husband brushes the dogs and he considers this brush far superior than the old one. I think the bristles are a bit sharp, but he doesn't think so and the dog seems to enjoy her brushing. I think it depends on the dog, as one of them hates any slicker brush. JoJo loves her new brush and cleaning it out is easy.
I have been using a Safari slicker for 15 years. I found myself in need of a new brush and I'm not exactly sure why I switched to this product, but I sure am glad that I did. I don't understand it, but it picks up more hair than my other Slickers. And, the way that the brush allows you to remove the hair is better. It allows for the bristles to stick up a little while you remove the hair. The other Slickers do not allow the bristles to stick up as much and as a result, the bristles often times get stuck in the base and after hair removal the brushes don't work as well. That probably doesn't make sense, but that's the best I can describe it. All in all, I would recommend this one over all of the other Slickers that I've ever used.
I've had dogs for over 40 years and this is the best brush I've ever had. It retracts easily and the hair comes right off. My dog hated the Furminator - it was too rough for him but this one is gentle and still gets the undercoat really good. I have an Australian Cattle Dog and he has a lot of thick hair and this worked very well.
Really like this slicker brush. Brush gets the fur and you push the button as you tap it and make the fur fall off. My big dog sheds something awful. I've used the brush on her during her bath and soaped up. The fur really comes out. Mid May and her shedding has almost stopped. Past years she shed all summer or it took me all summer to get her brushed out.
I have a White Shepherd %26 I purchased this new brush to try to get ahead of her constantly changing coat. She loves to be brushed normally, but I was a little skeptical bc the bristles appeared to be really prickly %26 maybe even slightly sharp? I took her out %26 started slowly %26 she loved it❣️ I was able to remove enough of her excess hair in approximately 10-15 minutes that it looked like an entirely different small white dog next to my deck. The only thing that I'm a little worried about is that it was advertised that it was a “self-cleaning” or “self-ejecting” brush. It does have a button on the back side of the actual brush, where her hair was collected, but while the bristles/brush does make a slight move, it certainly didn't eject her hair from the brush AT ALL. I was left to brush her until the brush was full, push the button, then use my other hand to remove the hair from the bristles. At this point, I obviously do wish that it would've ejected the hair on its own like it's supposed to, but I guess I can look into that a little later on. I just hope that it's not ejecting the hair on its own bc it had been longer than usual since her normal hairdo %26 she's very much a long haired girl in the first place.
The little brush is in stock, which is great if you have a cat. But if you want the five-inch one, you'll have to get it shipped. It's hard to tell the difference from their pics, but the bigger one is worth the money for dogs.
The bristles are easily bent making it difficult to clean Better when bristles are on the plastic body when not in use Also bristles too delicate and bend in use
the bristles are hanging up in the holes and bending under plate, not allowing it to fall back into place fully. maybe it's a defective one. i juat reodered a differnt one. just be cautious on the use. i should've returned it. i would say to not purchase. as i said this one i got may be defective.
The bristles do NOT retract all the way when you press the buttong to clean it. They stick out and hurt your hand trying to get dog hair removed. I threw packaging in garbage, so retuning it was difficult. DO NOT BUY.
It's not for shorter haired dogs at all. It hasn't gotten any undercoat it was basically a pointless purchase but if you have a long haired dog this would work perfectly for a good price
