This go for trap is super easy to use. It is small enough but is very efficient. I no longer have any gophers in my yard. Only downfall is it can be a little message to clean up. You will differently in not have to worry about the go for surviving. But it works wonderfully.
Excellent traps, best I've tried so far. Note: you need to buy two traps if you want to be successful on a regular basis with these traps. I wait for a gopher hole to appear in my lawn, then I immediately grab my shovel and dig out a section big enough to place to traps in the main hole. Be careful that the traps are sitting flush against the main tunnel and not at any awkward angle - you don't want to make these little guys suspicious. Then I cover the front part and the top of the trap with dirt while leaving the hole in the back exposed. Leaving the back open lets them know that their tunnel is exposed to air and they will come and investigate, making sure the trap is flush against the tunnel with no light getting through the entrance prevents them from discovering the trap until it's too late. I've found this version of gopher traps to be more effective than the tunnel style, I think it has to do with the fact that the bottom is open and they're still walking on dirt as opposed to plastic. These little gophers are very cautious creatures and you don't want to alert them to a change in their environment. If you find that your trap keeps getting plugged up, go back and dig around the hole a little more to make sure that it sits flush against the tunnel and is level with the tunnel as well - no weird angles here. When you dig out a section to place the traps, try to get one big piece if you can - keep your sod wet while you wait (typically I catch them within 24 hours), and water the piece of sod extra after you've replaced it (especially on hot days) as you've disrupted the root system and you don't want your grass to die.
This trap is designed too catch a gofer when trying to avoid the sun light which of you install it properly it works very good it has top be installed in the front of the gofer tunnel the mechanical part of the trap is almost foolproof and very well constructed of top quality materials I have only had the trap for less than a week but has been successful so far. I would recommend this trap over others I have seen.
So what can I say about this gopher trap, it's a easy set up for the person who has never had to use one before. Thanks Walmart sparks. OK so I really need to get more of these products because others have seen it and are impressed, now they are wanting one or more as well.
The Gopher Box Black Trap is quickly and effectively killing the animals that were destroying my garden. The trap was very easy to set up and I called with just one click! My garden will finally be free of these pests and my garden is getting beautiful! Thank you!!!
I set up outside. What I like about this product it's super easy to set up. Very simple. Have not trapped anything yet bit I'm patiently waiting... Our backyard is a playground for some wild life that needs to warned. My hopes is this product will help our situation.
We have a groundhog problem. They are causing potential damage to our in ground pool. I am adamant about avoiding poisons due to the impact on the environment. I got this as an alternative. I haven't caught any hogs yet but first impression is this item won't work. it is much smaller than I thought it would be, so it easily fit in the tunnel. However right out of the box as I was following directions on how to set it....the trigger and spring fell off! My husband figured out how to reconnect them but really? Not sure how its gonna catch a critter when it falls apart out of the box. Also after reading directions, they 'recommend' putting 2 of these back to back for best results. Yep, only have one. Awesome. Not sure as to the functionality of this product, but out of the gate I would not recommend.
I ordered one. Then I see when it came they reccomend two units. Back to back so they work if coming and going. Well I dug them in on a hot day, I covered carefully and waited three weeks. Nothing. I dug them up washed them up and returned. It looked like the critter just went around them. Wmx return went well until I got the attitude at the service desk. Anyway I got credit back for the sale.
It broke right off. My husband was able to fix it quickly. Seemed very cheaply put together. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. But as far as recommending it I would say you might want to get one that isn't plastic. Once we use it I will be glad to send in a review of how it worked.
Perhaps our gophers are too small but this trap did not catch any gophers. I followed the directions 100%. Tried it in different active holes over different days and nights. Didn't catch any gophers. Might work for larger gophers but not the ones we have. Really disappointed as the gophers drive us crazy! Nice idea and trap, wish it worked or us.
