I bought this for my mother. She is in her 70s and loves it. She couldn't wait to set it up on her table so she could listen to her records. How awesome, I was so happy! It seems good quality sound, easy to use, and looks so vintage and classy at the same time. The perfect gift
For under $100, I was afraid this record player might be good for looks only, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it turned out to sound and. function.
While I love the esthetic of it, the quality isn't there.. when I received it, I almost returned it due to how loose the plastic pieces were. I decided in the end to keep it and glued it down to help it feel more secure.. sound is great.. over all, it's a decent record player for the price and being a beginner one.
This particular Victrola model has been awful. Maybe we just have bad luck? The first one we purchased online, came as an obviously-returned product. It wasn't packed correctly and there was a switch that was broken. We returned that one and purchased another one directly from the store. That one had a dragging turn table. Every time any record played, it brushed on the bottom with every beat. We returned that one, now on our 3rd.....and a speaker is broken! For reference, we own a different Victrola model (an even more basic, cheaper one), and never had an issue. Not sure the issue!
I purchased this Victrola record player last year for my daughter, and it worked great. So, I decided to buy a Victrola Journey for my teenage niece. The record player was shipped by FedEx, and it arrived on time for her 16th birthday. On the night of her party, she opened her gifts, and was super excited to set up her new record player and play the album we bought her. Out of the box, the player looked fine, and seemed to be packaged well, but when we sat it down on the dining room table, we heard something sliding around inside the player. Then, when we attempted to play a record, even on the lowest speed, Gigi Perez sounded like one of the chipmunks. Clearly, components were damaged, and we were not sure if it was due to poor product quality, shipping damage, or a combination of both. We returned it to our local Walmart and purchased another Victrola Venture off the shelf, since I had purchased one in the past, and it was good. This second Victrola Venture had a warped turntable that kept making a loud rubbing noise. It was also returned. We ended up buying a Crosley instead, and it worked, as intended, right out of the box. If you buy a Victrola, just know that it might work, or it could also end up being a waste of time and money.
This is a really nice classic looking record player. The problem is in the overall build quality. It has an nostalgic look, and it is aesthetically pleasing. It is priced well for what you receive, but the first one that I received did not power on I tried switching the power adapter, and it still did not power on, so the problem must have been in the unit itself. I then ordered a second record player because I liked the first one that I received. It just did not power on the second one worked pretty well and sounded pretty decent. It wasn't real loud, but I didn't expect that for a record player this size at this price point that I was placed with the second record player that I received. I would recommend this product because you're getting a nice product at a good price. I hope that this record player continues to last I guess time will tell. If nothing else just return it for a refund. Give this record player a try and I think you'll be pleased.
It's pleasing to look at , there's a sound on the turn table, that makes a whirring noise. Also the speed is off. Tried to return it. I started the return on line , got the code. The customer service couldn't get her computer to accept the code. She canceled my return on line, using my phone. I was then told, I need to call your customer support on the 1800 number, which I wasn't given. I had no more time left, after 20 minutes or so. The item still has to be refunded. Apparently other customers have experienced the same thing.
Invest a little more to get a real record player. This is a toy. The plastic plate was unbalanced and made a scraping sound. I immediately returned and got one with an aluminum arm and plate and unattached speakers -it's miles and miles better. I feel like I've invested in something I'll have for a long time instead of something I'll have to replace each year and up paying more for over time.
The platter on this, which is much smaller than a full size album record, is not level or is warped so it wobbles and skips with 12" on it when you play it because it doesn't support the weight of the needle on the edge of the record! How disappointing.
This was purchased as a gift and unfortunately landed outside of the return timeframe. the turntable was uneven and distorted the sound/didn't play properly.. the quality of the speaker was horrible. Go not buy.
