Ok, so for $90 on clearance I was really skeptical. I researched this camera online after I paid for it and was nervous that I would be returning it the moment it arrived. A lot of people complain about the poor quality video in 8K. However, I am pleasantly surprised that it is of decent quality. Is it going to give you a pro look in 8K—not in my opinion at 15 FPS. I doubt I'll even try to produce something in 8K—LOL. However, I can record at 720P and get 120 FPS. It gives me 1080P at 60 FPS. Not bad for the price. It only comes with the built-in mic, but it doesn't sound too bad. I bought my own external mic on Amazon. I think overall this is a good value and I'll be keeping the camera. Maybe if I come across more money I'll buy a fancy state of the art one, but until then, this will suffice.
Wow such an amazing camera what a great price for this item its so amazing I love it so much
The vivitar camera is rated among the first 10 best camcorders in the marketplace. The only drawback is the battery, which "evaporates" under an intensive use within an hour
all around good quality but the power isn't strong enough to run a microphone that needs any passive power and so far I have not been able to find replacement or backup batterys for it so there is that but all in all it's a good little camera and the night vision video is very nice and good quality
I like that the picture is very good on these units. I purchased 4 of them for my studio. The picture quality is great. The biggest issue I have with these cameras is that the external microphone jack is disabled. Vivitar only has 3 cameras models that use external microphones. Kind of wish they put that in the description! Needless to say, the picture quality is great but audio leave a lot to be desired......

The sound is awful. Purchased two different camcorder microphones, and neither one of them work with this camcorder. The only microphone I can get to work is a karaoke, mono microphone that you would have to hold up to your face. Don't think that you could videotape a wedding or any family activity with his camcorder. Every plastic external design is fake, mimicking real camcorder features . Do not even try the 8K it's awful. 4K Works OK, but there is 0 stabilization and you can't move around with the camera without a terrible shaky image.
I have a on going problem with camcorders, it that they don't focus. I was hoping that this camcorder would be better but it wasn't, it just cost a little more money, but the picture was no better. There was a return card inside the box, with a number to call, so I did call it, but unfortunately the person was not able to help me, but they were friendly and pleasant to talk to. But then I had to call Walmart to ask for a replacement, and after about 15 minutes, and several repeat questions from the three different people I talked to, I was finally told that a could not get a replacement, so I'm going to just return the item. I wish I could believe that this is the final resolution, but I doubt it.
The video quality is decent, but I cannot use the camcorder for its intended purpose because the external mic port doesn't work, so the sound quality is pretty minimal and cannot be improved. The remote also does not work at all which sucks to have to run back and forth. Using the HDMI cord connection to my big screen TV causes the camcorder to go black, but the blue “busy” light stays activated and it gets stuck like that. The only way to get it to come back on is by removing the battery. I hate that I just opened the box and discovered these issues recently, so now I won't have time to return it because the 30 days are up, tomorrow.
Microphone doesn't work. Sent for repair. No notification of receipt. Was supposed to be in repair for 3 weeks and it's now 5 weeks
