Weber iGrill Pro 7211 Meat Color Coded Temperature Probe

I purchased this probe to completely fill out available openings on my iGrill. I now can keep an eye on 3 different meats (which often happens) without opening the lid, while I prep other foods.

As a long time grill "expert" I have found the meats to be more perfectly cooked when using the probes. Imagine that!

It's a perfect compliment to the grill. My steaks, chops, and even chicken have been perfect every time. The only downside is that I have to cook more often. But even then it's worth it.

My original probes served well on our charcoal grill and our old gas grill. We bought a new gas grill that generates more heat, and I damaged the probes by using them when the grill was too hot. These replacement probes work well, and I am careful to not use them until the grill temp is down to 500 degrees.

I love the product however I have lurched two probes recently to replace 2 probes that failed that were less than 12 months old. They are used at a normal rate for a family home and so I dont think they should fail so quickly

I bought this as a Christmas present thinking I'd be able to monitor the temp on my meat! Perhaps by connecting to my iPhone through an app or something! But alas not until I googled it, saw similar reviews etc did I realise it was useless without the expensive attachment A tad disappointed guys! I'd definitely be looking at repackaging these and at least putting some instructions on the back so it's obvious it's a spare part!

Thought I could use this product to check temperature of roast, without lifting lid and letting heat out, as it had a cable. Only through google, did I find that you need expensive accessory to display temp.

Such a great idea to have temperature probes as part of the grill and it's great when it works but I have found that the probes rarely last more than two uses. I have gone through six over the last two years and have basically stopped using them.

I was cooking steak following the recipe and instructions in the Weber app for medium rare. When the app said to turn the steak in 30 seconds, I walked over to the BBQ in readiness to do so. In the following 10 seconds the app said remove the steak in 30 seconds, to remove the steak now, and showed the temperature spiralling up. The thermometer was on fire and was destroyed. A small flare up appeared to be the cause of this. What is worse, is I have emailed Weber about a warranty claim and they have not responded in about a week so far. Surely a bbq thermometer can withstand a flare up? Surely Weber can answer a simple email?

Like so many other comments, most from 2 and 3 years ago I bought the meat temperature probe believing I would be able to use it without additional accessories. It's a shame this issue has been relayed to you so many times over the last 3 years, yet nothing has changed. Nowhere on the packaging is it indicated that you cannot use it on its own. Extremely dissatisfied and frustrated.
