I initialing used this for outdoor grilling, the remote app on iPhone is great for keeping track of temp. The best news is I have found it to be very useful as a remote sensor to track the temp in our outdoor sauna. Just start the wood fire and do as you wish until the temp reaches target. No more continually checking if the sauna is ready, very handy.
I purchased two of these one for myself and one for my son. We are both very pleased with our product and would recommend to all who cook and use the Igrill. It gives a truer reading than the thermometer on my grills. I find that my smoker is off anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees so a big help there. And like I always like to say. If you are not cooking with Weber you aren't cooking.
Works great for monitoring cooking grate level temps for accurate grilling.
An important tool to track temp at the grill/food level. Much more accurate than the thermometer on the lid
Great product. I've been using my Weber for 30 years with a lot of guess work. The ambient probe allows you to use your vents to regulate temperature for accurate cooking.
The Weber iGrill has become an essential tool for all my grilling. I use one or two meat probes to monitor the temperature of my meat especially for low heat long cooking. The ambient probe tells me precisely the internal temperature of my grill vs. depending on the outside thermostat to be accurate—because most often it is off by as much as 25 or more degrees.
What can I say. My kettle is now a smoker. It's awesome. I use this with the igrill 2, which is a quality product. I have seen some complaints that the metal clip that holds the probe to the grates don't match the grates on the grill. That was true for me, and to those complaining I say “lighten up, Francis!” Different grills have different grates. Get some pliers and sort it out. Took me all of 5 minutes.
This Christmas I used the ambient probe and the meat probe in my wife's oven rather than in the grill. The oven had a 30-degree swing in temperature which we would not have known without the probe. Fortunately we had the meat probe in so the prime rib came out perfect.
I purchased this because I had concerns about the temperature readings in my pellet smoker. I now am confident what the temperature when I use this probe. I use this in my weber gas grill when I need to maintain a specific temperature. A great investment if you are serious about your outdoor cooking.
I have installed a temperature gauge in the past on my grills and now when I grill all I do is use one of the ports on the base to stay on top of the smoker internal temp.
