Have used Wellness products for many years for our dachshunds with great results. Now we have a German Shepherd and use this product to keep his weight under control. We don't have to worry about additives from China, cellulose (saw dust) or glycerin derived from diesel fuel. Vegetable glycerin should be fine. All dog food ingredients should be from a reliable source anyway.
I have a dog with allergies and this food works the best. I've used it for years. My dogs like it and are healthy.
My year old Lab puppy has elbow dysplasia. Her surgeon said that the very best thing I can do for her is to keep her very lean. That is quite an undertaking for a Lab owner. I started her on the Wellness Weight Management food a bit skeptically. I am very happy to report that she went from a chubby, chunky girl to a lean and healthy girl with a well defined waste in just a couple of months.
Since our dogs are not highly active, we are able to feed them the Wellness Healthy Weight and manage their weight without starving them. They eat this food dry or with a topping. Our Vizslas have glossy coats and are quite healthy. Also, I love ordering from SmartPak--they have incredible customer service and their prices are highly competitive. This price is the same DELIVERED as i used to pay at the pet store when we lived in another town. You just can't beat it.
All I can say is that it must have the best taste ever. My Auggie (Parsons Russell) is pretty finicky. When I first put out the food, she sniffed and dug right in. It must have tasted terrific because she bolted down the food. I would never think of changing, if she loves it that much that is all I need to know.
Living in a 1bd apartment with my newly adopted and very overweight Corgi, I knew getting and keeping weight off of her would be a problem. With increased exercise and using the Wellness Weight Management in SmartPaks has helped Bella trim almost 5 lbs in a month and her coat is glowing, the tarter is coming off of her teeth, her gums are healthier and most impressive, she has a waist line!! SmartPaks are great for apartment living bc I have no idea where I would store a 50lb bag of food!
I really like this food. I just switched because I wanted my dog to lose weight. He hasn't lost weight, but he likes the food more. It is easier for him to eat because of how the food is shaped. It also has clean ingredients. The first 5 ingredients of the bag are great. Even though it is not grain free, you should not feed small dogs grain free, because it is actually bad for them.
I'm sure this is healthy, but my dogs turn their nose up at it. I had to mix it with other food to get them to eat it at all
I purchased this for my portly beagle and her sister - who is fairly indifferent to food, but wants whatever the beagle has... they liked it OK, but they like the LiveSmart™ Chicken and Brown Rice Weight Management Dog Formula BETTER... Hmmm...That is cheaper and they like it better...so...I will likely go back to the LiveSmart Chicken and Brown Rice formula...
I switched my chihuahua to this brand hoping to give him good nutrition and keep his weight down. After two months, he developed 8 kidney stones all through his bladder, and started peeing blood. Now he needs surgery. The Emergency Vet I had to take him to because he was getting sick told me this brand is not science based for dogs and is what caused this problem. I'm furious and angry with myself for thinking I was taking good care of my dog, and now he is suffering.
