This was a bright white I used on trim. I did two coats but only because the paint under was oil based otherwise I believe one would have done it. Best paint I've ever used!
ONLY primer I will ever buy!! Covers litterally EVERYTHING! Tried other brands and keep coming back to this one. Honestly don't knlw why I waste $ on tring the other ones.
I always use this product to prime both new sheet rock and (after washing and lightly sanding), previously painted walls. Not a fan of paint and primer in one. It's thick but rolls on smoothly and with a tiny bit of water added, sprays like a dream. No strong odor some of the others have. Always excellent results. Recently, I power washed my daughter and son-in law's deck and the area of the house it is attached to. The deck is composite, and the house, doors and windows are vinyl clad. Mostly - There was one side of the casing of one door that was not vinyl clad. It had been painted to match the rest. Everything was going smoothly until I hit that piece. All the paint went flying. Next visit, I brought my Zinzer 1-2-3, sanded, then primed 2 coats. Two topcoats of exterior house paint and it looks good as new. It has only just been done, but I am confident that it will be a long-lasting repair.
I saw this on a DIY video so I decided to give it a try. My walls were dirty , covered in soot from burning candles and sage. I did need to do at least two coats but it was very effective. Now my room looks brand new.
I upcycle furniture as a hobby. The sanding can be tedious. I found this to be a way to not have to sand everything. paint it over all surfaces and then use the paint you choose, always sticks well.
Great product, easy to use and great coverage
Easy to put on dries quickly Looks great
1 coat use, great product, it was recommended by a friend. I will purchase again in future
I used this primer on a deck that I had painted unsuccessfully with oil based redwood paint. I was never satisfied with the job. I decided to paint it semi-gloss white latex. The Zinsser went over the redwood oil base just like it said it would. After a bout with sanding the spindles, I decided to try and paint over the old paint and did so with excellent results. I also had a lot of green mold (or something) buildup and the Zinsser covered it also. I might need a second coat in places. I used a cheap brush and it has streaks in it. Or the finish coat might cover it all. Decisions, decisions. It's a good product.
I am in the process of redoing a mobile home. It of course has the ugly panel walls all over the place. i have been searching for the perfect primer to cover the brown on the panels as well as the doors that are also brown. Zinnser primer did well. Not as good as i expected though as it was recommended to me by multiple people. for the walls, i had to put on 4 coats before applying the main paint. i found that if i poured the primer into a pan and let it sit for 4 to 5 hours to thicken, i could then get away with doing only 3 coats. That became very time consuming and impossible for me to get done quickly. By the end of the second room I went ahead and invested in a much more expensive primer. I would say to do the same. I was able to get full coverage with 2 coats AND it was not a thick paint so i was able to get 1 gallon to last me an entire room including walk-in Clothset as well as bathroom. Zinnser would have probably done great for normal painting but unfortunately the brown on the doors and panels was just to dark. If you are wanting it for the same reason then invest in a better primer.
