I do not have a lot of cake decorating experience, but luckily, with this tool, none is needed. It was so easy to use, and I thought my cake came out looking pretty good for an amateur like me. I loved how easy it was to clean, too. I would recommend this purchase to everyone.
I have always owned one of these in the Pampered Chef brand. I broke that one while decorating a cake and grabbed this one as a quick back up. I won't be purchasing another expensive one. This one works just fine for what I use it for.
This is way cheaper than buying online, and the handle style is more functional than what I've seen from other brands. I made 50 deviled eggs (100 halves) with this and it was a dream. You can put a wet paper towel around the tip to keep things from drying out, and throw this tool in the fridge loaded, which I used to only fill a few devilled eggs in batches when serving them so they didn't stay out too long and get warm/crusty.
I bought this to make my deviled egg preparation easier, and it was a game changer. Very pretty fluted filling, and so much easier than dealing with awful piping bags. Can't wait to use this on a cake!! Great product, and such an affordable price point, especially in this financial climate.
Not just a tool for decorating cakes, cookies, pies and candy, but I have also found it useful for stuffing foods like pasta shells and deviled eggs. Taste and presentation are equally important and can make your guests and family notice the extra effort put into preparation. The Wilton Decorating Tool is easy to use and the results are amazing. The design allows the user to firmly hold the decorator with one hand while giving steady pressure for even flow of frosting or filling. No bag is needed inside the tube. My old decorating tool was cumbersome, messy, difficult to load and clean. I would dread even using it and therefore hardly did. With the Wilton Dessert Decorator, assembly is straightforward, loads easily, can be used with one hand, clean up is a breeze AND THE BEST THING EVER, I CAN CHANGE THE TIP WHILE FROSTING IS STILL IN THE TUBE! Kit comes with instruction booklet, and two decorating tips. Even a novice cook, like myself, will love this tool.
It's not terrible for what it is and the price. The thumb trigger was not as useful as I thought it would be. I bought it mostly to pipe in filling for deviled eggs and such. For that it is fine. I don't think I'd want to try to take on frosting/decorating a cake with it, tho.
Used it once. Washed gently by hand and left to dry on rack. A few days later went to use it again for a holiday dinner, and noticed as I was squeezing that the ring that you screw on to keep the tip in place has a hairline crack already. Seemed to still work okay but sometimes the filling would seep out of it if too much pressure was applied. Otherwise I really like the design and functionality, just wish it was made with a sturdier or more durable material.
Total garbage. No matter what the icing - store bought or homemade, the spring lever went go down in the trigger. This is a terrible excuse for a decorating tool. I'm ordering the standard one from Wilton on Amazon.
The plunger for pushing down the frosting broke the very first time I used it and it's completely unable to be used now not to mention trying to use it you about break your wrist
It seemed to be an ok purchase. I pushed the lever down before putting the icing in and it seemed to work ok, but a few times the plunger wouldn't come down, tried to use it anyways. After icing 16 out of 4 dozen cupcakes it stopped pushing out the icing. I could continue to press the lever and it wouldn't push the plunger down to express the icing. Disappointing.
