This thing absolutely tears through cardboard like it has a personal vendetta. I've used it to break down a mountain of boxes and even cut up old carpet, and it handled both without any issues. Good sharp blade, cuts through corrugated cardboard well. Like the safety aspect of how the blade retracts. The button to push to lock/unlock retractable blade has to be pressed just right to work, but once I got used to that, it was easy to utilize.
