I was not sure what to expect but I was very pleased with the mulcher. I bought it to use some of my leaves as garden mulch but it also significantly sped up the whole process of cleaning the yard. Went from about 45 bags of leaves to about 10, but I wasn't being that efficient - I am sure it could have been fewer bags. When it is on I couldn't throw the leaves in fast enough. It kept up with my wife and I loading at the same time by hand. Highly recommend safety glasses and a mask as it is a dusty job when the leaves are dry. The glasses are more to keep the dust out of my eyes than any projectiles. Seemed to me a safe and efficient leaf mulcher. Very happy with it overall.
We have 3 large maple trees that produce lots of leaves and would require 40 plus bags to clean up the yard. Now that number is down to 12 thanks to this mulcher.
I have lots of trees and attempted to purchase this machine last year, however there were non available from 'any' source. Got one two weeks ago. Much faster than using the Worx Blower/Vac-Mulcher. It will mulch as fast as you can dump leaves in the hopper. The use of trimmer line over blade type tools makes this a safer machine for fingers but does not diminish its voracious appetite for leaves. I still use my Worx Blower/Vac for final cleanup. The trimmer line is simple to change and unless you throw a lot of small twigs and sticks, one set of 2 lines will hold up through more than one use. This machine is well built, sturdy, as with all Worx tools I have purchased, and breaks down and stores within itself, very compact. I highly recommend this mulcher over any other I have seen on the market. I also own a gas powered mulcher/chipper and prefer this tool for mulching.
This shredder handles leafs with no problem. Reduced my normal fall bags from 10 to 4. Light weight and easy to move around the yard. What this is, is a weed eater turned upside down, clever idea. Easy assembly and disassembly, can be hosed down (sealed motor) when finished and stored for next year. The other reviews mentioned the dust created. I tried to station myself up wind and had no problem. Sound is about the same as a circular saw cutting wood.
Every Fall I fill bag after bag of leaves & the City hauls them away. With this machine I can turn the leaves into my own garden mulch. It does leaves - not sticks, so separating is important if you have that problem, but boy does it turn dry leaves into a nice mulch. It will do small amounts of damp material, but it tends to become a paste in the shoot, so wait & gather the dry stuff. It is a bit loud, but really no more than your standard leaf blower. Just don't expect this to be a chipper - thats another category all-together. I am thrilled with how it does for its intended purpose!
I received this leaf mulcher about a week before we got blasted with snow and was able to use it a little bit while the weather was still cooperating. I thought it did a good job mulching the leaves and am really glad someone put the effort into creating this much-needed piece of equipment and offer it at a reasonable price. It didn't seem like there were 11 bags of leaves reduced to 1 but the bag usage is, without question, reduced significantly. That said, I always stuff those bags to the MAX so maybe their 11 bag equivalent is based on loosely filled bags. The only thing that springs to mind about using this piece of equipment is to have a set of earphones/plugs handy. This thing is pretty loud and should not be operated without them. Overall, this mulcher performs as I anticipated it would. Could it be improved upon? Sure, with a higher price tag. Does it do the job and is it affordable? For sure! I'm glad I came across this unit and hope it withstands the use for many seasons to come.
I have a good sized yard with lots of oleanders, pine trees, and a sycamore tree. I get lots of pine needles and leaves dropping daily. I have used the leaf mulcher just a few times but it works good for the leaves. I am enjoying using the mulcher. The mulch takes up so much less space in my trash.
Pros: This product quickly and easily turned my yard full of non-composting leaves into finely shredded mulch which should break down with ease. It is easy to assemble, light and mobile, and I swapped out leaf bags without trouble. It came with plenty of extra "blades" (plastic string, like a weed wacker). A great product, especially for the price. Cons: It would be nice to have something wider on the base of each "foot", as the poles acted like high heels, sinking easily into the ground, sometimes on one side more than the other, causing the machine to become lopsided. Neutral: I had issues with shredded leaves sticking in the barrel instead of falling through the bottom - this is less about the product, as those were the leaves that were wetter. It worked great for dry leaves, so it isn't a con, but if it worked better with wet leaves too it would have been a pro. It also gets a bit jammed up on sticks, and it can't break them up, but I didn't buy it for that purpose. From what I could find, machines either mulched sticks well or mulched leaves well, but none did both well (at least at this price point). If you want to mulch sticks and branches, this is not the machine for that.
I bought this to chop up hay for my elderly horse whose teeth are no longer very helpful in chewing. The idea behind how this should work is sound, but unfortunately, the design has the cutting cords angled downward, so that they hit the metal edges of the bottom of the basket and are quickly cut to a length that is too short to be effective.
The assembly of product makes it very difficult to use. Couldn't fit the top cover onto the funnel despite following instructions to letter and attempting many, many times. Power is minimal (I thought I would try it without the cover fitting properly). So disappointing, I threw away the first day.
