I love this pencil sharpener. I bought this for my prismacolor coloring pencils. Before i had a fossil of an electric sharpener and a hand one as well, but i got tired of it chunking away at my expensive pencils. It sharpens them crazy fast, and leaves the sharpest, smoothest tip ive seen on a pencil. You just plug it in and go to town. The shaving basin is small, but easy to take off. It literally just pops on and off. Its also pretty light, so beware cat owners, this baby will fly if knocked off a table lol
works really well, just dont like that when you pull out the container to empty it, you are always going to get somw shreds everywhere. they are not contained as well as youd think. but this makes like with kids who draw a lot and do homework so much more convenient. works with colored pencils as well.
It does exactly what it should—sharpens the pencil every time. If I could quibble at all, it would be nice for some adhesive or suction on the bottom to keep me from having to hold it every time I put a pencil in, but it's a small nuisance. I would buy again.
I read somewhere that this pencil sharpener is not used for colored pencils. I get that. So after I sharpen two or three colored pencils I sharpen a regular pencil. The graphite helps keep the sharpener lubed and sharp. And it one takes about a three count to sharpen either pencil. I've never used a sharpener that sharpened so fast before. I am hard on sharpeners. In five years I've been through as many sharpeners. But this one seems durable and well made. I've waited to do this review until I was sure about it. It is also easy to move it around from room to room because it's so lightweight and the cord is long enough thankfully. The holder for the shavings is small but easy to remove, empty and reinstall. I think the hole for the pencil should be on top just to help insure an even shave. But this one shaved the pencil perfectly from the front. I think it's actually going to last me. Should it conk out in the near future I will edit this review accordingly. Happy drawing.
This pencil sharpener is pretty got. I have 3 school aged boys that use it multiple times during the week and it sharpens the pencil really fast and it doesn't eat half the pencil just to get a good point. I'd buy it again if it stays at the same price point.
I'm using a pencil sharpener.. I realize fewer and fewer people use these now.. but I still like to take notes for recipes in pencil and sometimes just jot down ideas and doodles. The sharpener works very well(standard size pencils and a bit smaller). I trust the x-acto brand and their knowledge of "sharp things"! :-) The cord is on the lighter gauge for cords, so put it somewhere where it doesn't get run over a lot. This is a good value, excellent quality ,and has been very dependable. It does not grind down decent quality (made straight) pencils. I have not looked for crooked pencils to sharpen, though *crooked is when the marking material (wax or graphite/aka pencil lead) is not centered in the wood. also the sharpenings collector is easy to clean and does not come off too easily
I don't have to sharpen a lot of pencils, but when I do need to sharpen one I expect a sharpener to do a great job. This one fit that requirement without spending a fortune. Easy to use, does a good job sharpening, and the price was good. I'd recommend this sharpener.
This is a great little pencil sharpener for your children. It's easy to use, easy to clean and compact so it won't take up space on the counter. I purchased 2 for my grandchildren (1 per household) when I bought them a few craft supplies, including colored pencils. I purchased them back in August and they are still doing a nice job of sharpening pencils. I gave it 4 stars because it's not as quick or powerful as the more expensive one Walmart carries. I have that one in my office. But this is perfectly find for Elementary aged children.
It does sharpen a pencil but every pencil is sharpened unevenly, you have to wiggle the pencil at different angels to remove the wood from the graphite consistently on one side. The motor also bogs down during regular use. It is cheaply made. Good for a cheap quick fix but will not purchase this brand again.
sharpens very well but does not have the "pencil saving feature" advertised. It will eat through an entire pencil if you let it which is unfortunate when using expensive pencils. Have had it for just shy of a week and seemed to be struggling last night.
