Zebco 33 Platinum Spincast Fishing Reel

This reel was purchased for my young grandson. I was surprised he can accurately cast with this reel approximately 60 feet, paired with a 5'6" casting rod. The set up casts and retrieves smoothly. Hopefully he will enjoy the reel for a number of years - look out redfish!

I bought this to replace a bait-casting reel that was giving me too many backlashes on windy days, which all we seem to get now. It is amazing. I can go to a heavier sinker or lure and power up the cast and still get good distance upwind. The only downside is that if you fish in salt water you should remove the front cover to rinse off the line and spool or it will corrode. I've read that some people who fish salt water just buy the base model 33 and replace it every year. The Platinum does not have a bait alarm or an anti reverse lever, which the base model does, so you can't backreel with it but it has ball bearing so it will last longer if cared for. The drag is smooth and easy to adjust if you do happen to hook into something big.

I have been buying Zebco 33 reels for more years than I can count and have never been disappointed in their performance. Every summer I take the grandkids out fishing for sunfish and bass and these reels are easy to use but also able to handle whatever they hook into. Last summer, it was a 10 pound northern that gave my granddaughter a thrilling fight and adventure. Unfortunately, I didn't snap a picture as it was a long fight and I wanted to get the fish back in the water as quickly as possible. So, I highly recommend these reels especially at the price you can get them at Walmart.

I've just got it and used it one time. That being said it was very smooth casting the drug work very smoothly also. If this holds up, it will be a very good product.

Fantastic reel. I've caught many largemouth on it. I have it on a 7' medium light rod. It does amazing.

Great reel if you want no fuss and want an easy smooth fishing experience. Works great and can easily bring in alot of bigger fish your pond/river has to offer.

I bought this for a great-grandson. I was brought up on a zebco and still use one or two today. They are dependable and easy for a young person to use.

Returning it if it ever gets here. Ended up ordering it on amazon. I need it for this weekend. I don't trust walmart's shipper fedex to get it here. Was suppose to be here 3 days ago. Its still sitting in BFE somewhere, delayed. I'm sure the reel is good.
