Zippo Hand Warmer, 12-Hour - Chrome Silver

This isn't the first time I've ever owned one of these. The ones I had before got lost.( I love this hand warmer so much, I had to buy another one. This is great if you have limited access to electricity while hiking or camping and want to save your battery bank for phone charging. This hand warmer will produce heat for about 10 hours and gets very hot. The only downside to this is that you can't just turn it on and off. Once you light it up, it's on until the fuel runs out.

Zippo hand warmers are the absolute finest and I already own several. I live in northern Minnesota and I have, as well as use, my Zippos everywhere I go in the winter. It may require a bit of prep prior to use, however, the effort is well worth it in consistent heat output despite outdoor temperature (e.g., Icefishing at -15). Best yet, one does not have to wait hours to recharge like electric hand warmers. Tell your hands that outside at -15 degrees eh,? When no longer generating heat output simply refill with fuel and relight. Moreover, Zippo's product guarantee is also superb in the rare occurrence one may need repair or replacement.

I really like this Zippo 12 hour refillable hand warmer because it is very easy to carry in your pocket and take out as needed while working, playing or just being out in the cold. It has a soft warming bag cover so you do not need to touch the hard chrome. It has a plastic filling cup that has fill marks to measure just the right amount of fluid to put into the warmer. The filling cup has a spout on it so it allows for easy filling without spilling all over the place. It will last up to twelve hours and there is virtually no odor. It is like a pocket size furnace for your hands. You can use it with or without your gloves. I take it out of my pocket and warm my hands without my gloves, put it inside my gloves for a few minutes to warm them and then put my gloves back on. Now, both my hands and gloves are warm and I am ready get back to what I was doing. It did not come with the fluid but you can buy the fluid most anywhere. I like the sleek design and the portability. I especially like that it is reusable for years to come unlike the hand warmer packs that I have bought in the past that only have a single use. It is a great product for campers, hunters and people who have to shovel a lot of snow.

I'm one of those guys who's always used the disposable chem packs for hand-warming. I've often been curious about these zippo warmer as our son has two that he takes with him skiing and snowboarding. This was pretty straight forward, though the warmer won't stand on it's own, the bottom is as rounded as the top and you're supposed to fill it to the desired level and then leave it standing upright for 2 minutes. Since it can't stand on its own, you're just holding it during that time frame, so it's not hands-free. I also thought it would have some sort of built-in igniter, but it doesn't so you'll need a lighter or as I did, matches. The instructions are simple and clear, I took the housing apart, removed the burner top (catalytic unit) and filled the base using the included white plastic tank. 1/2 full should go 6 hours? I have the unit heating in my pocket as I'm writing this as part of my evaluation and it's still heating and it's been five hours. I had to light it a couple of times before I could really feel it warming up. HOW HOT DOES IT GET?! Funny you should ask, once it was going good, I put it inside the included black bag and then broke out my thermal imaging system. The upper section had the hottest spots (though the bag) at 112 degrees f, and down to 108 degrees. It did spike to 116, but is a pretty constant at 112. Surface contact temperature of the upper metal casing when lit is in the 120's and not comfortable to touch. I'd definitely say adults only, as you "could" get burned with the unit outside of the bag. So, would I recommend it? YES definitely! I'll need another one so I can have one in each front coat pocket this winter. THICKNESS: less than 1/2 inch WIDTH: 3 inches including the bag HEIGHT: 4 and 1/2 inches including the bag. this item is a lot better than the ones that you charge up because this one here wants you get it filled with the fluid use your lighter and light it for the 30 seconds to a minute it will stay hot for 11 hours

I honestly was going broke trying to keep my boys' hands, husband's and even mine warm in the winter -- husband's especially because he works in industrial maintenance on top of buildings all day and I feel terrible for him in the winter. So every time I bought $50 worth of disposable hand warmers I always thought there must be a better way. Am SO glad to have found this Zippo hand warmer and was hoping it worked as advertised -- and it DOES. If you've ever used lighter fuel for old-fashioned lighters (not disposable) or butane torches, that is all you need to have on hand for this (see picture; the instructions recommend Zippo Hand Warmer fuel or Ronsonol or similar lighter fuel. I had Ronsonol on hand.) The included instructions are clear and detailed, and it's simple, really. The "kit" comes with the hand warmer unit, the fabric "pocket," which you really NEED to use because the silver warming unit gets TOO hot for your skin, as the instructions warn (and you will find out), and a little plastic "fuel can" to pour the fuel into to dispense into the hand warmer unit. This is a 12-hour unit, so the "can" has a line on the side where you need to fill it for 12 hours' worth of fuel. Then all you have to do after you take the cover off the unit (the part with the holes on it) is remove the "catalytic burner unit" (that's the top) off the unit itself, and you'll see the small hole where you will place the little nozzle in the plastic "fuel can" to pour in the lighter fuel. After that's done, wipe off any excess fuel that may have spilled, let it sit for 2 minutes, then you're ready to light it with a match, candle or lighter. That starts the catalytic burner, although there is no "flame," as such, as there is nothing burning. (If there is, you need to put it out, as that would be some burnt lighter fuel you didn't quite wipe up, but shouldn't be enough to cause a problem, apparently.) At any rate, that's all it took to get the hand warmer up and running, and it really took me less than a minute start to finish, and I'd never done anything like it before. Took me a LOT longer just to write this out out to explain the process. But no sooner had I lit it and thought, "I wonder how long before I know if it took" -- since there was no flame to know -- than lo' and behold, the whole unit started getting hot, and about 20 seconds later, it was so hot I had to quickly put it into the cloth cover and cinch it shut with the drawstring to keep from getting my skin really, really hot (don't think it's technically hot enough to burn skin; it would just feel like it.) First test run I did with this, my 12 hours of fuel lasted almost 13 hours at the same heat strength, so I couldn't be happier! Husband will love this. Of course, he's got the two hands, so I'm off to order another one for him and 2 each for each of my sons. Wouldn't hurt to have a pair myself... The only thing with these is that the catalytic burner unit does tend to wear out over time, but I understand you can order them separately online, so no problem. These are inexpensive enough to make it well worth the money and effort. Could not be happier with this product.

Ok, I have seen many different handy useful gadgets and have not of this one. I have seen other types of warm products but I think this one will blow them all away. The Zippo 12hour refillable hand warmer will be an instant hit for hunters, campers, or just those who have cold hands during the winter. Take this to the stadium, fishing, or travels, don't forget skiing. This product uses Zippo Hand Warmer or Lighter Fluid that is purchased separately. Comes with a handy refillable pourer. I got the Chrome silver case, and it also comes with a glove that fits over the bottom section. I highly suggest getting this as a stocking stuffer/adder or just as a handy gift for just about everyone.

For people who play or work outdoors in cold weather the ZIPPO 12 hour hand warmer makes a terrific gift to yourself or any person on your list. It measures 4” x 2-1/2” x ½” and fits in any pant or jacket pocket. The protective cloth bag that comes with it keeps the temperature of the hand warmer at a nice even comfortable warm touch. The hand warmer operates by burning ZIPPO lighter fluid. You ignite it with a secondary lighter or match it does not have an ignition system. It comes with an easy fill plastic measuring cup so that you don't over fill it with lighter fluid. It produces flameless heat by using a catalytic burner tip. The burner tip is an expendable item that eventually needs to be replaced. Replacement catalytic burner tips are available for purchase and state that they are good for about 70 uses. The only drawbacks to the ZIPPO hand warmer that I found are: 1) you cannot stand it upright on any surface because all edges are rounded, 2) Once lit it cannot be extinguished until it runs out of fuel, there is no safe way to put it out prematurely and 3) while it is producing heat there is a constant slight smell of lighter fluid.
