I wasn't really sure this would be a great cutting board, but Google Gemini made a short list, and this was on it. Once I opened the box, the board appeared super dry, so I followed manufacturer's recommendation and conditioned the board before the first use. It drank that wood conditioner right up. So, I recommend to condition your board immediately, only wash by hand, and never let it soak in water. Then, this board should last forever.
The acacia wood is high quality and is a good size for counter top working. Once unwrapped, the wood had a funny smell so cleaned the cutting board well first before using.
Great price of large end-grain cutting board. Inexpensive compared to other end-grain wood cutting boards of similar size, attractive, thick, recesses ends for handling more easily. I applied food-grade mineral oil to seal the wood. After more than a month, no food stains. Try to cut parallel, certainly not diagonally, to the wood pieces to better hide any knife marks if that is a thing of concern. For about $26 it was worth it.
The working side is slightly bowed outwards, whether because of moisture warping or poor construction, I don't know, but it spins on its face like a twister board. Using the other side is fine though.
This end grain cutting cutting board is a steal for the price. My only complaint is that it arrived cracked in 2 places near the handle. I will probably just keep it and it comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer but it was disappointing that it was already damaged when it arrived
Covered with food grade oil and put in service Wiped clean after each use. Was on a tile countertop. Had to rotate over top to base as slight curve developed. Then put a hand towel under to allow for evaporation from wiping. Barely noticed curve but enough to cause concern. Now will check requirements to flip. Monthly
The only reason I did not give five stars for quality is because I did not realize until I used it the first time that the board I got is warped. I have to put a towel under it so it doesn't slide around when I use it. Other than that, I really like it!
There were obvious knots and rough divots in the surface of the cutting board which would catch and hold food, harbor bacteria and make thorough cleaning extremely difficult if not impossible. I ordered a replacement after returning the first one, and the second one was just as bad. Also, within 48 hrs of removing the plastic packaging, both boards began to split apart on the ends. Love the acacia wood and the concept of end-grain wood for the cutting surface, but this particular item is very poorly made.
Was good for two months until it started cracking and separating on its own. I washed and dried it properly and also oiled it. But still, shown extreme signs of wear. Color changed and lots of raised wood parts and lots of wood splintering just just two months of use. I had to throw it out due to food getting stuck in between the cracks and fear of contamination.
Beautiful design when it arrives wrapped in some sort of stiff plastic material. The instructions say to wash it with warm soapy water and dry it immediately. I did that, but the board warped. One side has a "high center" on it that it didn't have when its was immediately unwrapped. What good is a cutting board that you can't wash, because if you do, you can't use it safely because it wobbles like you've got a marble underneath it. I would not recommend this at all because this is the second one I tried from the same company. I sure wish it would have stayed flat after washing, because it is a beautiful board, but I don't recommend it.
