It supports a faster transfer rate than my computer has, this is not bad, just my system. Be sure to remember that after about 6-8 years all hard drives die. Mine died this year at the age of 8. We only purchased refurbished desktop or town computers, so when we get one, we know that it is about 3-4 years old and that a replacement drive will be needed it we keep it too long. Be also aware the hard drives can begin to loose data and program segments long before you realize that one is going away. Plus, Western Digital provides a free Acronis Transfer programs to make changing out hard drive simple. Go to the support downloads and get it. Plus this also provide free a data life guard program that can tell you immediately if there is a problem with you hard drive.
I like that it was easy to install. I also like that it is 1tb in storage. The connection was right on.
I had trouble with two other Western Digital drives (4TB). They were DOA. The fact that this one worked is a " "!
The Hard Drive it self is a very good drive. I have bought several Western Digital Hard Drive and a few other Western Product In the past. I would buy Western Digital Hard Drive(s) before I buy any other brand. Now as for. It would be very helpful if there was a Manual on to get it formatted and install it into a computer. Anytime you get a brand new unformatted drive. It needs to be formatted. However, if it is Four Tera-Bytes or more. Windows does not recognize it / it can't see it, So to speak. So, there for. You need a very small piece of software that can see it and Format it for you. Then you can put your new Hard Drive to work. The Software I speak of. Is a add on to your Windows 10. It is fairly easy to get it formatted and installed in your computer or use it as a external drive. I've had mine to close to maybe six months now and it works like a Champ. :-)
Exactly what we needed and was Exactly as described
exact replacement for the one that failed
I have had Western Digital hard drives for a long time and these are my go to for a large and affordable file storage drive. These are also great for barebones RAID 1 or 10 solutions for an affordable price point but I do not recommend these for 24/7 use in a NAS. The one thing I hope to see with Western Digital consumer hard drives in the future is the adoption of the NVMe 2.0 specification which helps to decrease the inefficiencies between different types of storage devices. Other than that, these hard drives are great for the price point.
Solid hard drive. No complaints. Easy to install
These have a reputation for a high failure rate, I haven't had either of my two die in four months. They may still fail at some point (always have a backup, you don't know you need it until it's too late), but so far so good; nothing exceptional but it is CMR (on the WD10EZEX).
Came completely dead. Tried it with 3 computers, different SATA cables, nothing worked. Sent it back and bought Seagate instead. Disappointing.
