I have used this for years. I unwrap a slice and spread a line of cream cheese down the center, put a few bits of green onion on it, wrap it tightly into a roll and let it sit for the flavor to develop. Kids love these but they are very salty. The slices today are much thinner than they used to be but still taste good. Even better if you can find cream cheese with chives already in it.
This is great product to have in your cabinet. Nothing beats “comfort food”. Having dried beef on hand you can always make a quick meal of Chipped Dried Beef Gravy…. Breakfast-Lunch- or Dinner……..Eat on toast…. Biscuits…. Pancakes…. Noodles….. so good. For me it brings back childhood memories. I always have a jar or two on hand….. you don't have to use an entire jar when you make your gravy. One jar goes a long way.
I've eaten this for many years in good times and lean times. Never failed to deliver taste and nutrition for a super affordable price. Makes a satisfying meal for lunch or dinner served on a thick slice of toasted bread or biscuits
I enjoy both cooking and eating this product.
My dad was a cook in the Army. My husband served in the Army. We still enjoy chipped beef on toast as a treat. It is an acquired taste for many, but we like to keep it around for the days when the rest of the family aren't at breakfast with us. Comfort food.
Been eating this since I was a child ........81 years later, I still love it. Cut into half pieces, separate slices, stir into a medium-thick bechamel sauce %26 then serve on toast. YUM! If you find it too salty, rinse it before adding it to the sauce.
This is a great product...actually the only product to make the old fashioned SOS. Too bad it is so hard to find. I asked 4 different employees about where to find it and none of them even knew what I was talking about. in Fact, a couple customers who overheard out conversation also said that they can't find it any longer so it must not be made anymore. I came home and went to Walmart's website and was able to order it to be delivered to my home. Then I went to the Arlington store and found it way up on the very top shelf where the surplus products are kept. There is no physical place for it on the normal shelf. Anyway, I got it and it is the same as they produced in the old days 70 years ago when I was young and my mom used to make creamed chip beef on toast for the family. It still is from Amour and still in the glass jar. I'm glad Walmart has it even though it is mostly hidden.
If you are old enough to know what this is, then no explanation required. It is the original, shelf stable meat used for creamed dried beef.. remember that? It is exactly as you remember it. Quality is the same now as 65 years ago.
beware, the jar is extremely small and i didnt think it was worth the money i spent. would be great for a one time party platter purchase, otherwise, just get a roll of salami
Smaller then expected so price per unit higher then expected. Glass on one unit broken in box, making price per unit even higher. a little balled up paper place in box, lots of empty space in box with glass jars. Obviously little to no resources put into securing glass containers in box.
