I dont understand buying something for double the price when the exact item (generic) is available for almost half the price of a name brand. I have used every brand available shopping at Walmart. Great Value Corned Beef is exactly the same with one major difference...the price.
When factor in this is precooked beef, then it's about half the cheapo ground beef price. I use cumin to get rid of the 'canned corned beef' flavor. Mix with a little raw egg and cook in a microwave egg cooker to form into a burger and then a quick char on the grill.
big fan of corned beef for sandwiches. fast 4 breakast, lunch, dinner. bought more expensive popular brand for years. great value matches n even rivals that brand. minimal grease, fat and no grizzle in the mix. not disappointed w/ this product. recommend it to corn beef lovers everywhere.
I received this Great Value corned beef 4 tins BUT i was sad because I ordered and paid SPAM 1 pack ( 4 pieces ) and i received only 2 tin SPAM. I am just wondering where the other two SPAM went. Please check my order again and sent it the remaining 2 tin SPAM. Thank you.
Compared to the name brand corn beef, this great value brand is pretty much the same. There might be a little more fat in the top of the can, which is easily removed. The flavor is good comparableto name brand. Sometimes the can is hard to open, but following the directions and using the key correctly helps, Very tasty on crackers for a quick snack or pick me up! I do not care for the flavored choices, like bacon, as they taste very artificial no matter the brand. Of course the best attribute is the economic difference between Great value Brand and name brand with comparable taste and flavor.
Great tasting, texture, even cold from fridge on crackers. Good with eggs, toast or potatoes. BUT, my only small problem is the opening. I've heard of keys being missing, tho' not experienced that. The long sharp band you peel off is dangerous and not necessary, just put it in a regular can.
almost no flavor to this usually tasty canned meat. the can had to be opened by an old fashion key that was very difficult to open. tried the can opener but wouldnt work. finally got it open by inserting a screw driver in the key. oh well, maybe i used enough calories for the task.
PICTURE ON CAN SHOWS PRODUCT OF BRAZIL, WHA ICH HAS GREAT BEEF. BUT CAN I RECEIVED SAID PRODUCT OF URUGUAY. CANNOT OPEN CANWITH CAN OPENER , HAVE TO USE A SMALL KEY TO OPEN UP THE CAN. i THOIUGHT THE CAN WAS ROUND , THIS CAN IS LIKE A SQUARE!!! please change the picture and info ....
My objection to this product is the infamous key opening these corn beef cans have. The key was so chintzy it broke and I had to resort to my tool box for a pair of pliers. Before it was over I had sliced my left thumb pretty badly. Two weeks healing and still sore when I touch something with that thumb
Not even sure how to describe this item. Purchased a few cans to have on hand for emergencies and decided to open one to test it out with some cabbage I cooked up. First off, using the key open, didn't even make it a 1/4 of the way around the can before the metal broke off. Fortunately, I was more successful with using a can opener. The product inside was clearly more fat than meat? Not even sure if it was meat as it practically melted in the pan, there was absolutely no structure to this stuff. Ironically, for as long as I cooked it, it would not brown or crisp up. It just continued to dissolve into a mush. I went ahead and added to my cooked cabbage to try it. Not much of a texture and quite salty. I just didn't see myself reaching for this item even in an emergency (unless it was the very last thing in the pantry and there was no other food sources available). Ultimately, I decided to return the remaining cans and use the funds for something I would actually eat.
