This review is for the Mainstays Stainless Steel Lint traps. They are simple. I did not see any review complaining of rust or product disintegration. That means they are a quality stainless mesh product. These work and may prevent a very large problem. I never knew I needed these. I thought they were overkill. Problems, sometimes, unexpectantly happens. My other half is an X-File fan and was given a gift of an X-File T-shirt from a producer of the show. For being 30 years old, the shirt appeared in good condition but upon washing it totally disintegrated into shards of thread and tiny pieces of cloth. Yep, that large laundry sink drain did become blocked and filled up the 15-gallon laundry tub and spilled over flooding the room. Using a lint trap made me aware how much stuff is thrown down the drain. With synthetic fabrics, even its fuzzy lint will not rot away into mush and be flushed away and out of your life. It may take a decade or so for the polyester fuzz balls clog to form, but they may haunt you with a very difficult problem. The lint traps are easy to use. I unrolled them, slipped the open end of the lint catching bag over the drain hose and used the rubber band to attach temporarily and then placed the provided zip-tie to pull it snug and tight.
I was happy with these but as I understand it they have changed and not as good as they once were. At the time they worked well and I was happy, although after reading other reviews recently I decided to try another brand.
Honestly, I haven't used them yet, but based upon a YouTube video I saw (of a user using these to catch lint coming from a portable washer draining), it look perfect for my needs... so I'm optimistic.
Must have item at my house. Easy to install, does the job, and Walmart has them for a great price. I always buy these in multiples. Thanks for always having what I need Walmart!
Works as expected and far superior to a lint drain, which can back up and flood your basement / laundry room. This backs up into the washer, which causes no damage.
These lights are motion sensored and life saving and I recommended to my in laws, we all love these!!!! highly recommended!!!
i have been buying these for years. They definitely work at catching the lint ! The product is affordable and easy to use.
I use an apartment size washer in my kitchen. If you had me, I would have said these were unnecessary. After going through 2 garbage disposers it was suggested I buy one. I can't believe how much stuff I was letting going down the drain. So this probably more of a revelation to than anybody.
New packaging made it hard to find these on the shelf. They are much smaller than they used to be. (1 would last for months before I needed to replace it. This new one is already full and was just installed 2 weeks ago.) Product is also now using a thinner/flimsier metal mesh. It is nowhere near as sturdy as they were the last time I purchased a few months ago.
Installed it which was easy, did a load of laundry and seemed to work good. Did my second load and it quit working. Filter didn't allow the water to flow through and it flooded my laundry room.
