This stuff works great, it can be a little messy, but it works very well, i used it to secure a non-structural trim piece to our suv, the clips had busted off the end, i applied windo-weld then clamped it for about 20 minutes, looks perfect.
I want to thank the last reviewer's comment because I too have a 2004 Volvo C70 convertible and wasn't sure if I should do it until I read it. I used the recommended product and the associated primer to glue the back window back to the top. A few tips: 1) Use latex gloves and replace them often 2) Open the roof slightly before you glue the roof I'd say about an inch open from the back as a gauge and dont fully close for 2 days. 3) Tape the boarder around the window to help during cleanup. 4) In order to push the rear window inside I used down sleeping bags that worked really well. 5)I glued the top and top corners first because the clamps I ordered only had 6. 6) I used paint stir sticks to apply even pressure to the window. 7) Plan for 2 -3 days for this. 8) Have a cover for the roof to protect from the elements. 9) Check out the videos as well. It worked great and I hope not to do this again
This is good stuff! It drys hard but flexible!
Works well and is easy to lay down. I used it for a rear window replacement on f150.
Used to reattach Solara convertible back window. Bottom corners were detached, so I used this product along with 3M primer to reattach the window as follows: 1) Waited for 65+ degree day and brought 3M products inside the night before 2) Cleaned window and all surfaces 3) Used painters tape to mark off everywhere I did not want black goo (canvas and glass) 4) Slight opened roof (brace open in front with a rolled-up blanket) 4) Brushed on Primer with artist paint brush/let dry for 20 minutes 5) Put on 2 layers of blue latex gloves 6) Cut 3M Weld caulk tube tip at an angle and applied to all areas. For me, this even included bonding some canvas to canvas in one spot. 7) Packed several sleeping bags behind the window to force surfaces together. 8) Used suction clamps (from another popular auction site) and paint sticks to suction clamp everything together. 9) I waited 30 hours (would have been longer but my son wanted to drive the/his car) 10) Removed clamps and paint sticks. 11) Cut along edge of canvas to release tape from excess glue, then pulled off the tape 12) Used a razor blade to very carefully remove any extra Weld 13) Now removed sleeping bags and rolled blanket and enjoyed the 'new' top, thanks to this wonderful 3M product
Excellent product, I used it to reinstall a rear window in convertible top, saved me at least $1500.00 I was told I'd have to replace top.
Have installed multiple windows in heavy equipment, while in the field. Follow the directions and success is practically guaranteed.
