5" Cuttlebone For Birds

____ this particular item is the first 'cuttlebone' I have ever purchased; as such I cannot comment on how it compares to any other brand/item like it. That being said, I have no current complaints. I have bought a few (maybe 5?) by now, and I buy them not for a bird, but for my Invertebrate habitat/enclosure. I currently am keeping (learning and observing) a group of 'Three Banded Garden Slugs', isopods, and white springtails --- so the cuttlebone is for *their* calcium needs. ----------- I have not used the little metal clasp that comes with it, so I cannot vouch for how effective it is for its intended purposes. For me, I think the value is worth the purchase, as the majority of what I need for my habitat enclosure I free-source on my own in nature, but when it comes to the calcium, I wanted to make sure they had something "legit", and the cost was right for me. I frequently see an isopod grazing on one of the chunks I put in their home, as well as a little sluggy friend, so it's nice to know that they are indeed self-sustaining their needs. I'm not seeing evidence of molting-issues with the isopods, and that's at least one way to know that they're getting enough calcium in their new indoor home. ----------- Last thing of note: these cuttlebones are being used in a consistently damp/humid enclosure ... as such, I replace them more than someone likely would need to if they were being used for birds (???) -- that's just a guess. And honestly, I still need to remember to look up how to know when a dampened cuttlebone actually needs replacing. ------- I appreciate that I can count on a consistent size, that Walmart will 'ship' these to me (I don't have transportation at present to do pick-ups), and that they are enclosed in packaging is nice (as opposed to a product being exposed to random environmental elements ?? I dunno, is that even a thing with cuttlebone products?? lol) ------------ Anyway, Like I said: no complaints on my end. I think this is a great grab for someone who might want to experiment with a cuttlebone for their various needs prior to purchasing a bulk-order somewhere, as well .... see if it works for your bird, or other pet, or whatever you need it for. :-) I don't have a photo with an "active grazing", but I just took one for this review and you might be able to see one of the white chunks of cuttlebone in there...

These things are needed for some animals so not sure how to review this. I will say delivery was good. The last time I got one of these sent it came broke. This time it did not. I will say that the metal hangers on these things are very flimsy and I now have to clip it another way because it keeps falling off the bars.

If you have a bird you NEED these, and if you have pet crayfish, crab or lobster, you NEED them also! Birds and crayfish, crabs and lobsters NEED these for Calcium to keep them healthy! For birds just hang or place them anywhere you want in the cage. For aquariums with water, just place or drop them wherever you want, in the aquarium. They dissolve very slowly in water, and release vital calcium into the water, and your pet crayfish, crab or lobster, will nibble at them when they desire to do so. Highly Recommend!

I will see more of the results in time but I actually am using this for my fish/shrimp tank to up the shrimps calcium/ the HG for them! Very satisfied with the price though and the availability of getting them so fast.

It can be really hard to purchase items you're unsure of online, especially when reading reviews. Everyone's experience is going to be different %26 like people, all birds are different. This is the only cuttlebone I feel comfortable giving to my Cockatiels. Anytime I try to switch to a different kind, the reviews turn me away. The only negative about these specific cuttlebones are that they can be inconsistent in size and shape. One may be much smaller than the next or possibly broken. Even with that, it's still my %231 choice.

the cuttlebone is being used as source of calcium for my mystery snail in my aquarium. works just fine

just found my parakeet and just thought I would get this for him. don't know if it works or if he will use it. will buy again if need.

the metal holder sucks, I have ordered this 3 times and everytime the same, I get mine off amazon now. If you have a good metal holder at home now then it would be ok

I ordered the one with the red packaging but I received the one in the picture. I did not ask for a substitute. I'm reasonably sure the one I received is cheaper than the one I paid for. I will be making a trip to check the price.

It was all broken into pieces.
