I always buy this brand because they are good, and cheap. They also come in fat free version also good. I will give you a tip on getting these out of the can easily. Open the top, turn upside down in your pot or bowl, then poke holes in the bottom of the can, and the beans will slide right out! Another tip, if these beans are too thick for you add some milk, or sour cream while heating it will thin the beans out and make them creamy! I make these beans as a side dish to Mexican food I make, I love adding them to nachos, and if I have leftover tortillas I put beans and cheese in the tortillas and fry them!
I JUST TRIED THESE FOR THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE WALMART WAS OUT OF THE NATIKONAL BRAND I NORMALLY PURCHASE. WISH WALMART WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE NATIONAL BRAND A LONG TIME AGO. THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY THE NATIONAL BRAND PRICE.
these are really good. I put them in the pan and I add a little water to it until I get it to the texture that I'm looking for. I like mine a little runny, also these don't have animal products in it. I don't buy the regular refried beans because they put lard in it . these taste delicious %26 a plus they don't have the pork lard. the price is good too
The Value is in this Brand of Refried Beans. You can always add a little water and organic oil to make the beans not so lumpy. You could even add more spices if you want more flavor, like onion powder, paprika, and garlic in other Refried beans. I use these beans for nachos, alone as a meal, or with rice.
These are great to use in burritos or tacos with cheese and sauce if wanted. Add to a casserole with Quinoa and your favorite veggie and your favorite sauce. You could use a tablespoon mixed with a beaten egg then cook. Cheese could also be added. For a quick snack, toast a slice of bread and add a tablespoon or two to the top of the toast then add a slice of cheese or grated cheese to the top and toast it quickly under the broiler to melt the cheese. If you want it with a sweet taste add a layer of applesauce or add chopped pineapple to the mixture. If you want to make it a little fancy mix 2 tablespoons with 2 tablespoon grated cheese and add some to the center of bisquits before cooking. Or roll out your dough flat and cover the top with the mixture and then roll up the dough and cut it into pieces before cooking. Have melted cheese as a dip for them.
I have pancreatitis, and with that diagnosis comes a fat free diet. I love beans, especially refried beans, and beans are very healing for your pancreas. a gluten free tortilla, a good amount of refried beans and fat free cheese and you've got a great meal. Easy to make, easy to eat, and easy on your budget.
I’m really impressed with these Great Value Fat Free Refried Beans. Sometimes fat-free versions can be dry or bland, but these are actually really creamy and well-seasoned. They make a perfect, quick base for taco night or a healthy dip with some baked chips. It’s a great way to cut out some extra calories without feeling like you're missing out on flavor. Definitely a staple for my pantry!
I like to mix this with avocado, and extra spicy rotel tomatoes, (dried chile pepper, lemon pepper, cumin, tahini, et cetera) used as a healthy alternative to mayonnaise; goes great with chips, potato salad, pasta salad, and on sandwiches. Also makes a great finishing ingredient for a vegetable soup that way be a bit on the watery side. Also, if you get home and you're just too darned tired to cook, simply make a sandwich with the refried beans spread onto lightly toasted bread, with tomato, lettuce, maybe a thin slice on onion, mayo and/or mustard, boom....instant late night snack;)
I wanted unseasoned firm mashed beans to prepare using my own seasonings. Best price for a super healthy, hi protein, very versatile can of beans. P.S. When makiing a fully loaded chips and salsa with guacamole, beans and salsa and melted drizzled cheese, I save a few calories and fats by using lower fat bagged shredded cheese microwaved melted with la bit of low fat milk, heat a minute or thereof, stir to incorporate, then drizzle over the rest of the ingredients.
It's hard to get basic refried beans wrong. These are what they say they are. They are not fancy. They are not seasoned strongly. They are simply refried beans. There are the occasional partial bean that wasn't mashed all the way, but that isn't a big deal for 99.99% of any call for them. Good tasting, basic Hispanic-style staple at a really good price. The fact that they are lower in fat is not noticed much. There may be a slight decrease in depth of flavor, but unless you are using them beans as the star of the show, I doubt it would even be noticed.
