Since Affresh was recommended by Whirlpool for its products, I decided to give it a try. I have been extremely pleased with its effectiveness. I have yet to see any mold, mildew or other buildup in my HE Washer. Of course, I use this product as recommended, each time my washer reminds me that it is time to clean it. I also leave my washer door slightly open so air can get inside during times I do not use it. I have tried Tide's Washer Cleaner and I do not like how it smells afterwards. Quite frankly, it smells just like my detergent! Which leads me to believe that Tide's cleaner is just its detergent in a more concentrated form. The only drawback to using this over Tide's Washer cleaner is that since this is in a tablet form, it is noisy at first until it dissolves. More effective cleaning power beats out noisiness any day.
I have owned my front loading HE washing machine for 5 years now. I ALWAYS leave the door open as I heard horror stories of mold odors coming from the washer when you leave the door closed when not in use. I had a major change in my life and did not do laundry at my home for several weeks. During this time someone closed my washer door. When I opened it I could smell a slight mildew odor. I washed some towels and the whole load stunk! I used the affresh tablet once and the odor is completely gone! I like that it isnt perfumey. The tablets do have a scent but it is minimal and not overwhelming. I used as directed, plop the tablet in the washer and run thru a normal cycle with hot water. Good as new again and odor free! Yay!
I never knew that you were supposed to clean out your washing machine b/c of the odor and bacteria that builds up. I did notice that everytime I opened the door to the washer, there was always an odor but I thought that was normal. I've heard of home methods where you can pour bleach through a rinse cycle in hot water. But I never tried that b/c these washer tabs seem easier and fool proof. All you do is throw a tablet into the washer (same place you put your clothes) and turn it on the hot cycle. If you have existing odor in your washer, the packing recommends you do this for 3 cycles so you are using up an entire package the first time. But then you just have to remember to do it once a month after that to keep out the odors on your washer. After each cycle with the tablet, you will have a fresh scent but that only last temporarily. You won't have the fresh scent each time you open your washer but you also shouldn't have the strong odor either.
This a fresh is a washing machine cleanser, if anyone has a washing machine with a setting for cleaning the washing machine after 40 loads this is the product along with other products that help freshen your washing machine and keep it from smelling and that way your clothes don't smell stale
High Efficiency (HE) detergent for washing and using Affresh for periodic cleaning was recommended when we purchased a new HE washing machine. Had some left over non-HE detergent we initially used in the washer which was a mistake. Ran out of the Affresh that came with the washer and it was not carried where we normally shop. After several months of not running the clean cycle, a sensor became clogged in the washer which needed to be replaced. Now we use only HE detergent and always use Affresh to run the clean cycle when the clean washer reminder light illuminates. Have had no problems with the washer for several years now. Not using the HE detergent was probably the real problem but now we always use the clean cycle with Affresh to be safe. Affresh is hard to find in most supermarkets but the cost online from Walmart (even with shipping) about the same as what we normally pay in the stores.
This product did a great job cleaning my washer. It even cleaned the gray rubber seal between the opening and the drum.
I like the 3 pack Affresh washing machine cleaner very much. The convenience of the 3 pack helps me keep this product on hand to keep my washer clean and sanitized and it's economical too.
These work great for refreshing the washer!
I wish I knew about this product when I purchased my HE washer years ago. The single use of this tablet helped eliminate the offensive smell for a bit, but it returned. So I used the tablets twice more. It definitely improved the odor that was released in the next wash. Maintenance, monthly use of the tablets, is essential.
The tablets came by US mail instead of Walmart delivery and each tablet was smashed into powder. Very unhappy!
