not to difficult to assemble , easy to set up and it did a great job spreading fertilizer.
It seems to be a well made product. The drawback is that there are a lot of parts to assemble, and in my case I had a missing part. I followed the instructions to contact to report the problem. I told them the missing item number according to the parts list and instructions. I received quick response and a part. The only problem was it was the wrong item. After additional tries, I've gotten three of the same part. I gave up!
I bought this spreader for it's features, you can put two 55lbs bags of lime or fertilizer in it, the control handle is sturdy and works very well, the slide plate that's controls the quantity of fertilizer is made of plastic so it won't rust and the spreader impeller is also plastic. The manufacturer says you can spread salt over your driveway with it. Don't know about that as the frame is all metal. All and all though, it is a very good stable spreader even on my rough lawn it didn't tip once.
the lever that runs the feed door the setup is very flimsy very cheap as broken twice very unsatisfied with the way that setup works
Unit says Made in USA, but wheel made in China and spreader box made in Mexico, so what's left? Nuts and bolts? Metal parts? It doesn't come assembled so what specifically is USA made? The unit has a couple of deficiencies. Not tested by the engineers that designed it, that's for sure. Cotter pins for axles were too short to fit through axle. Bought new ones but they failed, because the design needs a solid pin. Replaced both with zinc coated nails of proper dia. When they fail, at least I know how to fix. Axle was fun. Someone must have drilled holes on a Friday or Monday because one was a full two inches off where it should have been. I had to drill with a hand drill (I don't have a drill press) the proper location of the axle hole all the way through the steel. Fun times - not! Directions sucked as usual. Recommendations for the manufacturer: - Test product - drill holes correctly - design using solid axle pins and not crappy cotter pins. - pay someone a few bucks to assemble more of it right out of the box. For the consumer: Should you buy? How much DIY work are you willing to do?
This is our 2nd spreader in 3 years, the first one rusted out in the spreader area below. The 2nd one we got has a missing hole in the axle for the wheel to lock onto, so the wheel falls off unless we rig it on. Looking at other options from other manufacturers now.
Broke the first time I used it. I fixed it over and over. Next time I used it I could fix it anymore
On my first use the pin that made the spinner plate spin sheared off in the hole. Part of the pin was in the hole and I couldn't just replace the pin. Left me stranded. I returned it and got my money back.
I would not recommend this item. It isn't very well made. The wheels to small and the gear wobbly. It doesn't spread very far and what did spread much ended up on back of mower. The entire spreading assembly is not of very good quality
I bought this two weeks ago and put it together thinking it would last in my 2.5 acre yard but it only made it about 3/4 of the way. Then it broke, so I returned it to were I bought it. The plastic piece that holds the gear in place heated up and melted. The piece needs to be all metal and not plastic if you want it to last.
