Agri-Fab 40" Tow-Behind Lawn Dethatcher, Model 45-0294

Works really well. I am very impressed at how well, and how much thatch it removed. My only complaint would be the how the handle works to raise the tines when you want to move without them touching the ground. It needs to be stiffer. Maybe a pole type handle would be better that a thin strip of steel. Also, though I can pull the handle back a raise the times well off the ground, the handle falls back before resting against where it catches and this leaves the tines just barely above the ground. I’d feel more comfortable if I could get the handle to stay at the point where the tines are the highest point.

I needed a tow behind tine de-thatcher/ rake to prep my yard for fall over seeding. The 40" tine de-thatcher worked great. Assembly was reasonably easy. More weight worked really good on the larger bare spots. And less weight worked better on the thicker areas of lawn. I am glad that I decided to get it.

Easy to assemble, built sturdy and works very well.

Used it on a couple acres of lawn & it really raked out the thatch. If you have a large lawn like I do you may also want to follow it up with a sweeper. Which I have so the whole job was fast and easy. On the spots where the thatch was really heavy, I just made a couple of passes across it from different directions.

I used the video during assembly and had no problems. Once I set the height and added two blocks it worked great. I do have a slight hill in the yard which was a non issue. The speed in which you pull makes a huge difference. Now looking at other Agri-Fab product for my lawn care needs.

Used last fall. Easy to assemble, easy to use. You will need weight on it, I used some paver bricks. Thatch bunched up on tines and had to be cleaned on every other pass but I think I was set too deep. Will raise front hitch on mower next time. Works good but would get a bigger one for more than half an acre. Got this size to match 42" mower deck but could have used the 48"one. Good buy

Follow instructions for installation. Be sure to use (2) carriage bolts & nuts when tightening hitch arm bracket to the axle bracket when instructed. Tines to be adjusted so front and rear tines slightly bend when touching the ground at the same time while attached to tow device. Must be adjusted when attached to tow device on level surface. Pictures of large heavy concrete blocks are too much weight for a "slight bending of tines". I found through phoning and talking with customer service that for this "slight bending of tines" when lowered to ground that one (1) each side of de-thatcher, two (2) total, works best with garden department type Patio Stones. Approximately 2" X 8" X 16". This amount of weight did a great job on our lawn without doing damage to lawn or de-thatcher. We ended up with getting a huge amount of thatch out of our lawn. I had previously bought concrete blocks which were much to heavy by looking at various photos on the web sites, even the 4"X8"X16" were too heavy. Stay with "garden department Patio Stones" of the 2" X 8" x 16" size and tow at just a fast walk for forward speed and you too will find great results! I used large heavy duty cable ties to secure the 2'X8"X16" Patio Stones to the tray. Great Product and Company. I received my De-thatcher and started assembly. Assembly was straight-forward with no problems until I found three missing parts. I called Customer Support and they apologized and shipped the needed parts right away. I completed the assembly and installed some heavy pavers for weight and strapped them in place. I used the de-thatcher to prepare my yard for reseeding. It worked great and does a good job of raking out anything loose including rocks. I am very happy with this purchase.

I gave a 4 star because I used the Thatcher on 1acre of my yard and it wasn't proficient mind you this is the first Thatcher I have owned and wasn't thinking about putting weight on it .. so once I try again with weights I will change my rating... Thanks Vern

I had a great time assembling but just as with most items today, a video of sort would have been nice with assembly. I was half way completed when I noticed the lever was on the opposite side as displayed-oops! The hoist for lowering and raising when not in use was a little off when trying to get it to come up. A smaller gap maybe would have helped it out to stabilize it.
