I needed a tow behind tine de-thatcher/ rake to prep my yard for fall over seeding. The 40" tine de-thatcher worked great. Assembly was reasonably easy. More weight worked really good on the larger bare spots. And less weight worked better on the thicker areas of lawn. I am glad that I decided to get it.
Works really well. I am very impressed at how well, and how much thatch it removed. My only complaint would be the how the handle works to raise the tines when you want to move without them touching the ground. It needs to be stiffer. Maybe a pole type handle would be better that a thin strip of steel. Also, though I can pull the handle back a raise the times well off the ground, the handle falls back before resting against where it catches and this leaves the tines just barely above the ground. I’d feel more comfortable if I could get the handle to stay at the point where the tines are the highest point.
Easy to assemble, built sturdy and works very well.
Very nice, light weight product to keep lawn looking great. Works as expected.
It works as expected. I'd like to see a different way to secure the blocks as the ratchet strap hooks I used got in the way and the blocks didn't sit flat. I wound up just going all the way around. I also put a thin piece of rubber under the blocks to keep the paint protected.
Performed exactly as expected, so no surprises. I had to get off occasionally to free the tines of thatch, as described by other reviewers. Well worth the money, considering how much it costs to rent one. Granted, it’s not a commercial unit, but it will pay for itself in a year or two.
Works pretty well. The raise/lower handle a little flimsy but overall I'm satisfied
Poor spring mounting, should be bolted. Handle should be easily removable for storing. Handle should be adjustable, cannot reach while sitting. A larger diameter clevis pin with multiple holes would keep it from bouncing less. However, it does do a good job dethatching with weight added.
I was hoping for a more sturdy piece of equipment. This seems rather flimsy especially the handle and the way it's mounted. I had to modify the tongue to get it to mount to my JD LA145. I don't see this lasting for many years. It seems to work ok for now.
Great idea but execution under-delivers due to the structural integrity of the frame. The first time I used the de-thacher the unit looked like the picture with 2 cinder blocks added for weight. The engagement handle (the one that raises and lowers the wheels) could not handle the weight and began to bend. The unit works OK, but the unit should be engineered for additional strength
