I know it says not to disturb the mound but I get a thumb sized stick and press deep holes in and around mound and fill them up with amdro. Then sprinkle it on and around mound. Works great. On really big mounds I may have to reapply but seldom to never.
A lot cheaper by the ounce and works the same, good for acreage
No more ant mounds after applying.
This is about the only way to control Fire Ants here in Alabama.
I live in Texas on a few acres. Any idea how many fire ants you can get on a few acres in Texas? I have a daughter that is allergic to ants. I also have young grandchildren and they are going to walk through every ant bed. This product is so good at giving you some control over the ants. It works so well. Get it. I'm serious.
For those of you who have a fire ant, or other ants listed, problem buy yourself some Amdro and get rid of the whole colony. I've been using Amdro for at least 30 years now and my dad was using it before that. I've never used a different brand because Amdro works, here in the desert and in the mountains, from 2000' elevation to 6000' elevation I've used it. The worker ants carry the poison into the mound and down the hole where every ant in the colony, including the queen, feasts and dies. It only takes 3 or 4 teaspoons per mound and so a little bit goes a long way. I bought a pound of Amdro 3 or 4 years ago and I was down to just a few ounces so I was glad to have some more and if there's a shelf life on the poison the ants don't know it and they still eat it and die.
Easy application used hand spreader and went over my yard where I had ant problems worked as described.Would recommend.
Was a little disappointed it wasn't available for delivery that day but was shipped in two days. Have used this product for years.
Easy to use - fire ants are slowly dying
Maybe the fire ants in my area have just developed a resistance to the ingredients, but I have applied this to my lawn three times in the last nine months and have never stopped getting fire ant mounds that I still have to treat.
