Good quality for the price. Held up for almost a year in heavy winds, with only minor tears on end. Replaced recently due to color fading but can be expected under the harsh conditions.
This does what I wanted it to do. It lets me know what direction the wind is coming from and how fierce the wind is.
I had one of these that lasted for almost a year and a half, through a hurricane and a brutal Texas summer; the only reason I wanted to replace it is because that Texas sun managed to fade it to peach in that time and I like the bright orange, lol. I couldn't remember for sure where I got it and ended up buying one on another site that turned out to be vinyl instead of the ripstop nylon; the vinyl one was much stiffer and 3 days after I put it up outside, we had some 20mph wind and the vinyl one flew away. These ripstop ones are definitely the way to go. The wide mouth ring at the top is very sturdy and keeps the sock open, to catch every little breeze and that large opening also reduces the amount of damage that the wind does over time. Narrow openings take a worse beating, so those kinds of windsocks don't last as long. I always have two windsocks mounted by the end of my driveway; this orange airport sock and the other one could be anything, depending on what currently makes me smile. The orange airport one is important, because it is how I direct visitors or deliveries to the correct driveway. Lots of people have cute ones like my other one, but few have an airport sock, so I'm easy to pick out of the crowd. So glad I finally figured out that Walmart was the site that sells this, the best windsock; I'm going to buy another couple of them to keep in reserve, just in case. Yes, I like it that much.
This item has been holding up to upstate NY winter! 5 degrees and 40 mph winds and still on the flag pole.
Windsocks are made from sturdy fabric.
At first, I thought that this Anley 30" Windsock was a bit flimsy. I would be surprised to find that it was more durable and longer lasting than I initially thought. I have the Anley windsock on a flagpole. It's on a ring that allows free movement. I initially thought that it would wear out where the support hoop rests against the flagpole. It seemed most likely that the ripstop material would wear out along the hoop. The ripstop material is very lightweight, and my expectations were that it wouldn't t take long before the material would be worn. This windsock is a brilliant orange color with gray reflective bands. I initially thought that the color would be gone quickly as it is exposed to the Arizona sun, extreme dryness, and temps 105-110° . I quite honestly didn't have much hope that this windsock would last very long. I hung it up and hoped for the best. I hung this windsock up in early December. It quickly opened up and took flight! It floats effortlessly with the slightest of a breeze, quickly indicating the direction of the wind. The Arizona desert can be cold in the winter with temperatures below freezing, along with snow and sleet. The spring winds are relentless, but under all of these various conditions, this Anley 30" Windsock far outperformed my expectations. Eventually, it would lose almost all of its orange color, retaining the slightest hints of orange. The reflective gray bands were least affected of all the components throughout the life of the windsock. The hoop and the material surrounding this hoop remained intact and also outperformed my initial expectations. The weather event of a hailstorm would eventually pierce the orange ripstop material. This was only after many earlier hailstorms in its service. The combination of all the 8 months of extreme desert environment conditions and the hailstorm is why it was replaced. It was still performing its purpose of wind direction when it was replaced. As you can probably guess, I was more than surprised by the performance of this Anley 30" Windsock Rip-stop Nylon Wind Direction Measurement Sock Bag 2.5' and I highly recommend it!
Awesome! Looks great. Easy to see
Flies with the wind .
Original windsocks were designed to catch the most gentle of winds. In order to do this the neck loop must be firm and fit into a holder to keep it vertical. The body must be soft. This item did not come with the stick (others in feedback mentioned it did) It also did *not* come with braided strings as pictured. It instead came with thick/wide reflective straps. Which some people might like for certain uses.. I however wanted to catch the most wind, not have clunky high vis for nighttime.. Which interferes with the wind. Furthermore.. the main body material is not soft. It will actually stand out straight if you attempt to hold it horizontal. This design will not show gentle wind, only proper soft material would as there is no flapping motion at the narrow end of the sock with gentle wind. Just jerky motions if pointed in the right direction to catch anything to begin with... this cannot happen with heavy, stiff material pointing at the sky... Thought was put into this to make "stronger" , but the thought went off the rails in terms of actual use of the item. It isn't so much a "get what you pay for" with this as the maker does try to make it strong, but this just shows lack of experience for need from the user, again. So props to the maker, just please educate yourself and choose better materials for your next improvements. (As made since mine did not match as pictured) If you want a bright and mid range visibility wind toy (this is not high-viz reflection) for a boat dock or similar it might work for you. If you want to land a plane.. get a proper airport wind sock.
You delivered my order to the wrong address and thn would not admit it or give me credit!!!
