AcuRite 5-inch Blue Capacity Magnifying Rain Gauge (2" x 2.8" x 12.5")

this rain gauge is perfect, easy to read, especially since we've had rain for it to catch! It's raining now and I can see this rain gauge from the kitchen window and we've had an inch %26 two tenths. Now I will record the rain amount, so I can calculate when I'll need to run the sprinklers. This awesome rain gauge will save money 💰 I like that. Like the kids say... Get you one!

Originally I was a little hesitant about this rain gauge, but now that a few days passed with rain at night and early morning, I am very happy with it. It has a nice wide opening to collect rain water and it's really easy to read how much is in it because of the dark blue background. My previous rain gauge had a glass tube and it cracked in the cold weather. After replacing the tube multiple times I felt it was time to try something different. Happy purchased this.

Recently had a gall bladder attack! Looked up what to eat and drink. They recommended peppermint tea. I ended up with 3 brands. This was the tastiest! And the bags are cool with their pull-out strings. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It measures the amount of rain, and for some reason attracts a few Japanese beetles. It wedges into the ground, and the graduated part does not separate from a cone in the ground like some. Great for the money.

This is extremely easy to read. Has holes pre-drilled for mounting to a post . We have ours in the hole where our umbrella usually goes over our table. works great there. see photo

This rain gauge is sturdy and I love the large lettering. I struggled with finding a replacement with good reviews. My previous rain gauge had a glass tube you could remove from its metal bracket which made it easy to pour out the rainwater as it accumulated. Since this one is one piece, my only concern is that I can’t easily dump the water to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in it.

I mounted the rain gauge on a post in my back yard about 20 feet from my kitchen window. I can read it from inside the house due to the clear markings and magnifying effect. Given a choice, I would have preferred a calibration in 10ths of an inch, as that is how the Weather Service reports rainfall. That’s a minor issue, so I’m happy with the purchase.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have always measure rainfall in 10ths of an inch. This rain gauge is marked with 8ths of an inch, so you have do do math to see what you got in 10ths. I don't recommend the product simply because I expect you can find some marked "correctly" in 10ths.

Pay attention to the lines! The Acu-Rite rain gauges I've used in the past had lines at every 1/10th inch. The one I received has lines at every 1/8th inch. Not nearly as intuitive or easy to measure! Other reviews of this same product have photos of rain gauges with 1/10th-inch lines, so I don't know what's going on here. Otherwise, the rain gauge is sturdy and stays in the ground well.

Very thin brittle plastic. It is made to be pushed into the ground or mounted. The plastic so thin that it broke the first I tried to push it into moist soil. NOT RECOMMENDED! A freebie I got from State Farm is much better quality.
