Lay your typical two slice toaster on its side and that would be the approximate footprint of this back up device but it's easily three or four times heavier. Having said that we wall mounted ours (due to cable lengths & equipment locations) in a vertical orientation. One has an option to wall mount horizontally or vertically. The battery is the heaviest part of the assembly and is easily replaced should the need ever occur. After installing and plugging the back up into a 110 volt source the battery was fully charged later the next day. But the instructions state this so we were expecting it. We have our desk top computer, DSL modem & Wi-Fi router plugged into the "battery backup + surge protection" side and the all in one printer plugged into the "surge protection" only side. Last night we had a local thunder storm momentarily interrupt power to the house. We happened to be watching a TV show streaming over the Internet at the time. Although the TV went off and then back on the streaming TV show never dropped a byte. I jumped up to check status of the desk top and it was still on. The printer was rebooting but, I presume, was not compromised in any way by the power interrupt. Prior to have this battery back up the computer would have shut down instantly and the modem / Wi-Fi router would have to be reset. This item worked as we expected and we are pleased with the purchase. Tried to upload a photo of our installation but Wally's Web Site kept timing out.
I waited for a power event to give my review. I have my computer, internet connection, and monitor running off the battery. When I recently had a power fluctuation, I would not have noticed from looking at my screen. The lights in the room flickered and my stereo went off, but not a blip from my computer or screen, and my wireless connection completely unaffected. So good job.
Anyone that has paid hard-earned money on new generation consumer electronics should own at least one of these. Power issues (dips and surges) are disastrous to these items; protect them as your would your home or vehicle. APC has a great warranty and 3 year life expectancy. Wal-marts price is very competitive.
I loved the first one I bought so much, I ordered a second one for my SO.

The only feed back that I can give is that this is the same unit we had when we purchased our phone system for our office. When our old one showed that we needed to replace the battery, we found that by spending a little more, we could get a new unit. Our old one lasted about 3 yrs.
I had an APC battery backup system in the past, and the only thing I found wrong with this model was that the items I wanted to plug in were VERY difficult to do so, as it seemed like something in the plug-ins of the unit was holding it back from taking the plugs! You have to push the plugs into the unit VERY hard before they connect. Other than that, it's still a great product.
I've used APC UPS units for some time, so when the time came to add one, I naturally turned to them. This unit is smaller capacity than I've had in the past and more of a consumer-grade, but that didn't affect the quality any. Worked out of the box and has supplied power across a few spikes already. My only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that the outlets are all clustered together - except for one - leaving a lot of empty space on the top of the case. I've got quite a few small power-adapters (disk drives) and they all wouldn't fit so I had to extend to a power strip with wider spacing. It's really just a nit, but something to consider if you're protecting a lot of things.
Price was very reasonable for the quality of this UPS. The only disappointment was that the software they have for it will not work with a Mac.
