I have an elderly cat with arthritis who was struggling to use a regular covered cat box so I bought this to help. It's easier to get in and out of for her which has helped with her quality of life. I do have to clean around the box quite often but that is to be expected with a lower open top litter tray- not a big deal. I don't use the sifter but I like that it's an option for someone who may have mobility issues.
I love this cat box. I use it for my pet rabbit. I put a liner at the bottom and fill it with about 1 inch of dust free cat liter. It's perfect to keep the urine off of his feet.
An excellent litter box. Big enough for a 13 lb medium sized cat. Will last about a year and a half before they start cracking at the edges. No chemicals. No fancy machine to break. No weekly trays to change out. . I use clumping litter and rarely have to sift out little pieces. I have purchased this five times (i keep three boxes for my two cats) in the last 3 1/2 years. And I plan to buy more.
Nobody likes to change the cat box. No one enjoys digging for gold. You have to change the cat box. Use the proper tools and your job goes much quicker %26 so much easier. I have 3 of these in my house for 4 cats..... it takes me less than four minutes to change all three boxes. Seriously I've timed it. I use the sandwich method rather than the instructions provided to avoid claw , damage to my baby. The sifter is the meat of the sandwich and the solid parts are the bread. The unit is set as a sandwich with the litter on top of the bread. I then empty the top piece of bread into the sifter.... sift ....empty and reassemble. Literally takes a minute. *Buy yourself a rubber spatula flipper for any dingleberry that wants to hang on and you are good to go. This is a wonderful gift for any new pet owner, established pet owner or to add to ....or better yet replace your cat box. If you keep your cat box clean , then your cat will be healthy and will not pee through your house. You will have a better relationship with your cat. All because you have the proper tools. Once a month, I completely pull this thing apart. Wipe it down with baby wipes.Fill it back up and we are good to go. it's extremely easy to clean. Does not hold smells, and its only 20 bucks. Such a cheap price to keep my baby's healthy and to keep my sanity. I spent too many years digging for gold in a regular cat box and I won't risk my babies being killed with an automatic one. My granddaughter just got a kitten...guess who got a litter box?
I bought two pans, and they are fantastic! I have also used disposable pans to sift in to, and find it is very helpful when changing, along with added baking soda.
Fine for small cats, but large boys, they need taller box so they're not spreading litter over the sides digging. still need the scoop to get pee clumps unstuck from bottom of box after dumping most clumps into strainer. Strainer works great for what is not stuck to bottom of pan
I was hoping this would work for pine pellet litter. It's not the easiest sift as the pellets fall through some, but it is a great option and I'm happy I bought these for my kitties. Bought 3 and will purchase one more.
The design is great. For smaller cats it would be great. My 2 cats are 12 and 16 pounds. It's ok for the small one but my big girl is waaay to big to comfortably do her business.
I used this for 1 week and am returning (yes, they are picking up for free and refunding my money). The ONLY thing I liked was the sifter but it still ended up being a nasty, disgusting dirty mess. I emptied it and immediately went back to my other litter box that I saved and will gladly clean my litter box twice a day rather than deal with this .
These things are tiny. Not practical for full-grown cats. I have to clean the floor every time I clean the boxes because they are so small and my cats go over the side. The straining system is a good idea but the litter boxes are simply too small in every way. I will have to re-buy the extra-large, high-sided boxes and just use these for sifting when I clean them.
