Purchased this laptop over while out of town last week, having purchased my children Acer Spin 11.6" Chromebooks for Christmas, I really liked the small form factor of those. This gave me a nagging desire to have one for my couch potatoe days. However, I just couldn't get on board with the Chromebook OS, as many of the programs I would like to use on the fly, while I'm couch web surfing wouldn't not be possible.
So on my hunt, I say this at the local Walmart. While I never intended to spend double of what each Chromebook cost on my kids gifts, I felt it was worth it. This wasn't exactly what I wanted, I was drawn to the smaller 11.6" screen for being more light and felt more mobile. But couldn't find FHD in that size without paying even more than $399. So I settle and I'm not disapointed.
In a matter of a week ownership, I upgraded the SSD to 1TB that I had in my desktop I don't use and purchased 16gb ram ($57 on AMZN), to add with the soldered 4gb ram that comes in the laptop for a total of 20gb ram. Let's face it, if you want to do more, you need more ram as I started seeing a slow down and stutter in some software I use.
The only thing I don't like, is the webcam placement. Not a huge deal for me as I didn't intend on using it for Zoom or any video calls for that matter. But it's set up to be used in the tent postion (like the product image you see)....which means you're not using the keyboard at the same time. Otherwise, you need to angle the screen more down, depending on your sitting height, might not be a good thing on your neck and/or back.
For my needs, this has been a great purchase. I hope the hinges last me at least 2 years, like a reviewer complained about before it faults. I'm fairly reasonable and don't epect tech to last a life time and likely will be outdated by then. Light gaming has been great too, which was a bonus for me. Was able to install my favorite MMO, World of Tanks and play it at low setting with no issues for hours on end. The crazy thing is my 2070 gaming laptop is like holding a toaster in my lap even playing that game on low setting, while it's on (plus sounds like a leafblower as the fan ramps up). The intergrated graphics on this 2-in-1 Asus laptop, while is does get warm...barely noticeable.
Granted, this is about a 2 year old design. I really wish the USB-C was charge capable. Great thing is, the charging plug is just that. Not in two parts or with a brick, so even that is pretty mobile.
