Nice for the price

jonmess December 5, 2022

Happy with this laptop. There is no bloatware other than Mcafee which is easy to remove. My only complaint is with Microsoft automatically placing user folders on OneDrive. Microsoft hopes you will use all the free space and less technical users will have to buy more space.

You'll feel spoiled with this laptop!

Angel March 4, 2023

I've had this baby for 4 months now and have been absolutely loving it! It has a sharp 2.8k display which makes text and images look twice as good compared to 1080P HD laptops. Because it is an OLED display, you don't need to worry about eye strain when using this display as I 've had with other LCD laptops. I enjoy this keyboard more than any keyboard I've had in my life. It's mind boggling how convinient this laptop is for only $450 when I purchused it! The I5 processor is fast and zippy, it's the absolute fastest processor you can have for the price range. The integrated graphics aren't the best but definetely beats having no graphics power. The laptop can easily run non demanding games, I have played portal 2 campaigh on 2.8k resolution without any issues. Small and chill games work best with this laptop. The aspect ratio makes the display very pleasant, giving you more room for information. Privacy is expected with this laptop as it has a webcam privacy shield. Not to mention the audio is better than expected for this price range, you won't be complaining especially after turning on DTS audio processing. The touchpad size is overkill which is so nice, and the texture of the touchpad makes fingers glide over it like ice! This laptop offers everything you'd want plus more!

Amazing Value for What You Receive

Adam February 11, 2022

This is a very good laptop for the price. The OLED screen is quite striking, it features a 90hz refresh rate, 16:10 ratio, and a resolution greater than the typical 1080p. Build quality is great. No major flexing of the lid or keyboard. Trackpad is fast and responsive, no problems there. Keyboard is comfortable and provides good feedback when typing. The lone USB-C is Thunderbolt 4. The one big con i can find is the soldered, non-upgradable RAM. It's only 8GB, the bare minimum in 2022. Other minor annoyances are that the two USB-A ports on the left side are 2.0 and the webcam is pretty bad at only 720p/30.

Happily surprised

Cindy March 28, 2023

Fantastic screen for the price. I was finally able to get my son a great screen on a laptop. Before Ive always ended up sacrificing the screen in the end for a better option in my hunt for the best gaming laptop in my price range. This VivoBook allowed me to finally choose a great screen for his first college freshman laptop. i left off one star of course due to the 8 gb of ram being locked in. It would have been AMAZING if it was upgradable!!! but so far he has really enjoyed it. Its very sleek, light weight and handles his note taking and projects with ease. He is half blind in one eye and finds rhis screen is truly much easier on his eyes than his gaming laptop. He loves the true black as well.

One Of The Best Laptop For The Value!

michael June 7, 2022

The screen is definitely the buying point, not sure what other laptops at this value can compete with this. Although the ram is soldered on, if you disable some startup apps, remove McAfee and download all the windows update and even Windows 11, it'll definitely run much smoother! But it definitely is a bummer the ram is soldered on since even idle it may run at 40-60% but hey, I think everyone interested in this is only thinking about the screen. The SSD is upgradable which is a huge plus. Overall this is definitely a great value what you get. I won't list some of the specs since it's already in the details but the 2880x1800 10 Bit, OLED screen is a beauty that has HDR, 90hz refresh rate, and aspect ratio of 16:10. The screen can reach over 600nits of brightness, not sure if it's with HDR only though, but it has a 243 PPI and a glossy screen. Although when HDR is enabled I think you have to have a certain amount of battery life since whenever I had 50% battery it wouldn't enable. The laptop comes with its own app called MyAsus, you can change screen, audio, fan, microphone settings, and even the battery for how long you can charge the laptop! The only three settings are to 100%, up to 80%, and up to 60% is a plus for me since you can always leave the AC adapter on. Whenever running a diagnosis test the fans tend to run very loud which is a concern since it seems to be over 5000rpm. Haven't tested the webcam yet so I won't be going over that but it does have a privacy cover which is pretty sweet! On the left side of the laptop it has 2 USB 2.0 which is a bit upsetting but the right side is much more pleasing since it has 1 USB 3.0 / 3.1 Gen1, 1 Thunderbolt, 1 HDMI, audio connection: 3.5mm, and a card reader: microSD. The touchpad seems to come with a backlit numberpad whenever holding the calculator icon on the right of it, the left side is for opening the calculator app. This is one of my first reviews I've written so hopefully it isn't too confusing, but this laptop is definitely a must buy for the price of $589.00!

good laptop - brilliant screen, fast, multitasks

eric July 7, 2022

excellent keyboard with 3 levels of backlight, trackpad with the NumPad which is also backlit. Bluetooth worked well. Screen was sharp, and the OLED display is super brilliant. However, I find the colors to be a little over saturated. Sound through the onboard speakers was adequate. I like the fact that there is a micro SD slot for extra storage, and the power connector is a "barrel" type that can rotate easily without adding strain to the port. Excellent performance, and very capable hardware at this price point.

Great screen, quick, good price, 3-5 yr lifespan

Steve January 21, 2023

Screen is phenomenal, fairly quick at most tasks and in general they did a good job of making a well-rounded laptop with no major shortcomings. I purchased this laptop on impulse and didn't realize there was no possible way to expand the RAM. I'm aware with systems coming with relatively small amounts of RAM soldered on the board but up to this point I've always seen at least 1 expansion slot. I guess Apple has been doing this for awhile so it's no surprise to see other manufacturers follow suit but unfortunately for me this laptop will have to be retired in 3-5 years. Feels well built and decently high quality, it's light and portable without feeling cheap. I'm considering returning this but I would definitely pick the same model again just with more memory and maybe some better graphics.

Poor Battery Life

WalMart69 January 30, 2023

This laptop checked off a lot of boxes for me (14", OLED, USB-C charging) and I was willing to overlook the non-upgradable 8gb of RAM which seems kind of low in 2023. Ultimately I had to return this because it lost 1% battery every 2 minutes which means that it would only last around 3 hours of light use (surfing the web on half brightness). Projecting this 16:10 screen to a 16:9 TV left black bars on the screen which is unfortunate. Lots of bloatware but most of it can be uninstalled. Very great price so if you can live with the short battery life and that it is going on 2 years old, this might work for you.

Poor Battery Life

ASUS69 February 8, 2023

The laptop is OK overall but I had to return it after a few days due to the poor battery life (~3 hours); yes, I read all the tips on how to improve Asus batteries and none of them worked. Otherwise, the laptop was fine and decently priced considering it is now 2 years old. The OLED laptop is by far the best part. 8GB of RAM seemed OK as nothing moved slowly but this will not work for future proofing. There was a lot of bloatware but most could be removed. The ASUS software was helpful. Overall, I really wanted an OLED laptop and had high hopes for this but it just was not meant to be.

Black screen common issue

OzkrG February 10, 2023

Labtop display screen is amazing but unfortunately the screen went black. Tried all the troubleshooting on the website and didn't make any difference. Did my research and came to find out it's a very common issue with this labtop. Only two months with it and already had to use manufacturer warranty.
