AT&T CL2940 Corded Single Line Speakerphone Caller ID/Call Waiting with Large Tilt Display

The only reason that I clicked dislike for the screen is because I was under the impression that it lit up. But it is very nice to be able to tilt it and to see who's calling and so simple to just hit speaker if you want to take the call. The range is great. I have tested it out. I can walk into other rooms and still carry on a conversation with a person with no problem at all. I love the big buttons. Its easy to see if youve had missed calls so thats a plus. Im very happy with the phone and recommend it to other seniors.

The product was as advertised - a serviceable desk phone at a reasonable price. Transaction via a third party, diddlydeals.com, was seamless and phone arrived when promised.

I misunderstood one review that stated no batteries were needed. This isn't true. 4 Alkaline AA batteries must be inserted to power the many features of the phone. It displays numbers that called you, a directory you insert and dials entries easily. The display is not bright and not easily read. Still, the phone is a good buy - providing it lasts for several years.

I purchased this phone as a replacement for my old desk phone. For the price it is a good phone, the display is very clear, the control buttons and numeric keys are easy to use, the speaker phone is clear and the handset is clear. My criticisms would be that there is nowhere you can plug in an external power supply, you have to use 4 AA batteries, the handset cord is too short and the display does not light up when you receive a call. All in all it is good value for money.

Setting it up was rather easy, but I set the viewer at the max which was a 4 and it wasn't dark enough. Even with a light on I still have to get close to read the information. For anyone with sight problems it wouldn't work well for them. The ringer could be louder. I have it set to the max, but anyone with hearing problems might not hear it, unless they are in same room as the phone. Other than those two items the phone works just fine.

I was disappointed that the display is not backlit like my similar AT&T phone with answering system, and is much harder to read in dim light. This phone also requires batteries instead of a power cord like my other phone. These items are not readily evident at all in the on-line advertisement for this phone. I would not have ordered this phone if I had known it didn't have a lighted display, so I am not happy with it.

Bought this phone to hang on the kitchen wall. It's not mountable. The handset kept falling off. Also, it's hard to find a long coil cord that fits into the phone. The number buttons are big and the ringer is loud. It has amplification but if it's set on the highest amplification, you'll hear a whistling sound. The caller ID is big but does not have a back light. In a dark room, you can't see who is calling. It would have been a good phone to mount because the caller ID can be seen from a distance but it's not mountable.

Speaker phone is worthless as there is no option to increase volume of the mic. Also, not having an AC adapter and needing to use batteries is terrible.
