AT&T CL2940 Corded Single Line Speakerphone Caller ID/Call Waiting with Large Tilt Display

The only reason that I clicked dislike for the screen is because I was under the impression that it lit up. But it is very nice to be able to tilt it and to see who's calling and so simple to just hit speaker if you want to take the call. The range is great. I have tested it out. I can walk into other rooms and still carry on a conversation with a person with no problem at all. I love the big buttons. Its easy to see if youve had missed calls so thats a plus. Im very happy with the phone and recommend it to other seniors.

The product was as advertised - a serviceable desk phone at a reasonable price. Transaction via a third party, diddlydeals.com, was seamless and phone arrived when promised.

I have the previous version CL2939 and find they changed the quality of the speaker phone on this the CL2940. -At first the sound went off and on skipping some words. It has improved. The older version also can be louder w/o distortion. This one has push buttons to change the volume, the older one has a slider. Please go back to the old technology for the speaker part. I am keeping the one I bought in the store. I had two others (one bought online and one also bought in store) and they both had the same problem with the speaker that the older one does not even though I used the same cords. I know it is the 2940 changes. It is a great phone and especially enjoyable for the low cost. Other reviews complain about the info screen being too light but do not mention whether or not they adjusted it. Make sure you read the instruction booklet about the features and how to adjust them. I hope someone at ATT sees this and returns the speaker design back to what it was in the CL2939!.

Setting it up was rather easy, but I set the viewer at the max which was a 4 and it wasn't dark enough. Even with a light on I still have to get close to read the information. For anyone with sight problems it wouldn't work well for them. The ringer could be louder. I have it set to the max, but anyone with hearing problems might not hear it, unless they are in same room as the phone. Other than those two items the phone works just fine.

I was disappointed that the display is not backlit like my similar AT&T phone with answering system, and is much harder to read in dim light. This phone also requires batteries instead of a power cord like my other phone. These items are not readily evident at all in the on-line advertisement for this phone. I would not have ordered this phone if I had known it didn't have a lighted display, so I am not happy with it.

Speaker phone is worthless as there is no option to increase volume of the mic. Also, not having an AC adapter and needing to use batteries is terrible.

Do not order from this "3rd party-Walmart" vendor. You CAN NOT return it to Walmart stores. You have to pay the 3rd part vendor (Diddly) 20% in order to return. This is because they already know you will be dissatisfied. In product description Diddly purposefully failed to disclose NO AC cord, AND batteries required for use. I will write another review to let you know if they even take the product back and reimburse some of the money I wasted.

I kept having problems with it, I've only had it less than a month, it doesn't always work, I even had to hook up my old phone for a couple of days, but hook it back up, it does not work properly, thinking about sending it back, I just hate to go through the trouble, very disappointed.
