This support system does take an investment in time to adjust it, however, after you are finished it works fine. However, we did need to make a supplemental support in the bow rider area. Overall it works just fine and is better than 2x4 and other assorted junk to hold the cover up
I have used a variety of boat cover support systems in my years of boating, but this style seems to works best. This particular application was on a small (12') v-bottom aluminum fishing boat, I ordered this in conjunction with a canvas cover - also from Wal Mart - and the result couldn't have been much better. Cover fit like a glove and support sytem did exactly what I had hoped for. As one of the previous reviews stated, the integral engine cover is a nice bonus and fits well. One thing I did notice was that the smaller of the two support systems was actually priced higher than the larger, so I opted for the "better deal" and purchaed the larger system - even though I didn't really need the extra length.
Works great...been through a few big rain storms and the water runs right off...no pooling...if it does pool up you just move the main post forward or backwards in the boat and re position it...no more worries
Holding up well so far--much better than the stick approach I usually use. I did put a strap across the plastic part to make sure it stays up. No pooling anywhere and does seem to stand up well. Hoping with the snow that's bound to come sooner or later that it holds up well. So far no troubles!
So far so good! I am using this on a 21ft pontoon, not exactly what it was designed for. It keeps almost all of the water off of my cover. Just a couple of small puddles after a heavy rain. Plastic seems to be a little thin that's why I gave 4/5 stars. It is priced appropriately though.
Seems to be decent so far. I was concerned with only having the one aluminum pole vertical as the flat T bar at the top the straps run through pull it down ward into a curve. I can only imagine once snow weight gets on top of there how much stress is on that T so i put some plastic PVC pipes on either side to help re-enforce that. If that part busts under the weight the whole thing will collapse. Overall for the money it's a pretty economical solution for rain/snow. I probably won't bother with it after every fishing trip because it does take some effort to set up and getting the cover up over it. But for longer storage like between seasons... this is the way. I'll have to see how it survives winter.
It's ok. I think the straps are a bit cheap, the front bow protector should be neoprene or silicone tubing not cheap plastic. It should also be sewed in place to easily find the center. Great idea, just needs refining.
Haven't had a chance to expose it to the elements but seems okay for the price. Will probably add some cross ties to make sure it stays in place. I did cut a hole in a board that spans the cockpit to accept the bottom of the support. Did not take long to fit to our small boat. Not real heavy duty, but then didn't expect it to be.
This support is not what I was expecting. The way it's installed on the boat still allows water to pool at the sides. If it had the straps going off the sides like is pictured, it might work a lot better. But it's still better than nothing!
bought took it right back total garbage..it will not support a cover..the support pole should have three legs on the bottom instead of a pole..total junk
