Bell Sports Inertia Road Bike Tire with Kevlar, 27" x 1.25", Black

I needed some 27" tires for a road bike I was building out of spare parts for my little brother. We ride about 5 miles every sunday and he's been riding an old 40lb mountian bike he's had forever. Looked these tires up on amazon and most of the complaints were because people had bought the wrong size. I bought two tires online for $10.55 each and same day pick up at my local store. I already had a set of plastic tire changing levers although they do sell those at Wally World too for about $3. Changing bike tires is a difficult task, and it's very easy to "pinch" a hole in the tube even with the proper levers. You almost need a razor knife (I used wire cutters) to cut through the plastic bands holding the tire folded up, and it springs apart violently when you cut the last band, so have a good grip on your knife. I carefully pryed these on the rims with new tubes, inflated and deflated a few times to make sure the bead was even all the way around the rim and finally inflated to 90psi. Mounted the wheels back on the bike and took a test ride and was very pleased. These have a little softer ride than my road bike with 700x23 tires and seem to roll just as good. The tread seemed pretty thick and the kevlar belt will definitely make them harder to puncture. My little brother is 53yrs old and 240lbs (I'm a svelte 225:)) and he was tickled to death with his new bike.

Great tire for the price, 350 mile on paved bike trails some on gravel trails no problems so far.

Great tire. Easy installation. I run these right down to wear bars every year. Bell make a pretty decent tire. Now I don't know what the maximum mileage you can put on these but I easily put on 1500 miles every summer on these tires before the wear bars start showing. I put on lot mileage practically run them into the ground and they still hold up. Great tires you can't go wrong for the price'

Finally seems to work. Initially due to the flat initial shape (I believe) there was some difficulty keeping the tire in the rim as it was inflated to proper pressure. After numerous times of inflating, seeing it start to expand out of the rim, then deflating and again reseating it in the rim and inflating again, repeated at least 4 times. The tire bead finally held to the rim. A bit frustrating but finally successful.

These are NOT the Bell quality tires I was expecting. My last purchase of these tires were "Streetster" labeled which provided 1000s of miles and many years > 10, worth of enjoyment and value. The "Streetster" edition stated that they were NYLON reinforced, these Innova tires do not. These new Innova Bell tires DO have issues of popping out of the rims and exploding the inner tube, even though they are the exact same size as the old tires. On the inside, they are not reinforced like the old ones, nor are the rim edges as "crisp" and perfect as the old. They seemed small in circumference when mounting (good thing), but neither the old or new inner tubes allow for more than 55psi before they start to bulge from the rim. These are "Innova" brand , 32-360 sized, re-branded with a "stick on" Bell label. The old Streetster tires had molded in Bell labels and were a genuine Bell product. If you want plug and play, look elsewhere.

To start, that the tires came folded in a box should have been the first clue. These tires have virtually no bead to hold them onto the wheel. Even when they are properly installed, they work off the rim and the tube blows out. Three times, three tubes. All in less than five miles.

Inflating the tube in this tire to even the minimum suggested (60 lb.) causes the tire to pop loose from the rim. Only if I inflate to 50 lbs. or less will this tire remain properly seated in the rim. This is entirely unacceptable. Avoid this product.

I would give this product negative stars if that were possible! I have used Bell brand tires for a number of years on both my bikes - they suit my road use and have been tough, reliable, hard wearing and good value. So when I needed a new rear tire I purchased a pair of these (one for "spare") Bell Air Guard tires thinking it would match the Bell tire on the front wheel. I installed the tire and only inflated it to 80psi (the legend on the box says 65-95psi) while I put tools away and cleaned up the garage. 15 minutes later, there was a large "bang" (like a gun shot) and the new tire had slipped off the rim and the inner tube was shredded. Thinking that I must have done something wrong during the installation (e.g. pinched the inner tube?) though I've never experienced this in over half a century of installing the tires on my bikes. I took the tire off, inspected it and installed a new inner tube, meticulously examined the overlap of the rim on the tire to ensure it was uniform around the circumference on both sides but only inflated the tire to 60psi to let it "stabilize" and again started to put things away. This time it took less than 5 minutes for the tire to come off the rim and again explode an inner tube. Clearly there is a problem with the tire - front and rear rims on the bike are identical, I've had Bell tires on the rear rim inflated to 90psi with zero problems for years. I was disappointed as my expectations were that these tires would be as good as the Bell tires I'd used in the past - that was clearly not the case. I'm also now out only the cost of two tubes plus the time to fool around with them, as Kudos to Walmart, who refunded the cost of the tires. Note that tires are too dangerous to put in the trash as is and so were cut to ensure no one else would try to employ them. Of greater concern is that someone may purchase and install identical tires and suffer a similar failure while riding - I'd hate to think what could happen on a fast downhill run if the tire were to fail as it did with me - we're talking serious injury here (or worse....). These tires are a potential danger to any cyclist and I'd most strongly recommend selecting a different,

Price is good, but not the tire: It does not stay in the wheel rim. Side of the tire indicates pressure 60 - 95 PSI, but pressure over 35 PSI and the tire escapes the rim, bulging out. Picture is at just under 40 PSI. Each of the 4 tires purchased does this, on UKAI 27 x 1 1/8 rims. So, the tire is unusable.
