A well thought out package. What's great about this cable package is that they are generously sized in length and they all have two ends. The brake cables have a barrel and a tear-drop on opposite ends. The shift cables have a small barrel and a button on opposite ends. All you do is cut off the one you are NOT using, cut the jacket to length and then thread the bare end where needed. The jackets cut clean without special tools other than a regular wire cutter (side cutters) like an electrician would use. The shift cables are lined with a poly sleeve and tend to bind a little. A drop of light oil or other lubricant on each end of the jacket takes care of that. Everything needed for a complete cable job is in the package including ferrules (both steel and black plastic) and aluminum end crimps for finishing the cut cable ends.
I needed a new gear shiting cable and went to a bike repair shop an they wanted $5 for just the cable. With this I got both gear shiting cables and the brake cables for $10 and with site to store shipping was free. Wonderful!!
home shopping was very convenient and simpler than going to Walmart to pick it up. Saves gas.
The items were as described and worked well. Next day pickup made it possible for timely repair. Order online-pickup in store is one of the better programs Wal-mart has. Recommend to others.
This kit gets the job done at a nice price. Installation goes as expected for changing out brake and shifter cabling.
Worked great. I almost bought a Shimano kit on Amazon. I saved money buying this and it got the job done
I have used Bells cabling/housing system to repair several old bicycle worn out shifting systems. Consistently reliable materials and environmentally responsible packaging. Glad Walmart continues to supply this cabling system and thanks for the rapid home delivery.
just what I ordered, but the seller messed up my address
need good cable cutters, just cut the end you don't need. I would buy them again.
The instructions leave an awful lot between the lines. With 4 old cables and 4 new cables each with a wire and a housing that makes 16 pieces with inconvenient floppy characteristics. Mixing them up is very easy. Plus lots of tiny fittings and bike parts. Do one cable at a time, and put past and future parts far away. Also take careful note of the sequence and orientation of the parts the cable and/or wire must thread through. If you get it wrong you may have to take it all apart and do over. You will learn to love/hate lithium grease. (I mostly love it even when wearing it.) Read the instructions three times before you start and then again while working. Lots of hard-won wisdom is actually in there. (Though much more is not.) Think four times before cutting. If I had it to do over I would probably watch three YouTube videos. Or maybe I'd just buy a new bike, it's a toss-up. Overall an excellent deal and a big improvement on a bike's braking and shifting. Lots to adjust and tweak that is not mentioned in the instructions. Could be dangerous if the brake cable were not fit together well and came loose when urgently needed. This product is either for seasoned bike mechanics, mechanical wizards with lots of intuition and meticulousness, or those who live dangerously. I'm none of those, but I may be okay. Glad to have gone through it and feel slightly less bike-repair amateurish.
