Make sure you're on a hard level smooth surface. It uses suction cups to keep it from wobbling too much when not perfectly evenly loaded. Heat the unit up for at least five minutes. Use two JR hard candies per use. Cut each JR candy in half, for a total of four pieces. Stop the unit, let it coast to a full stop. Quickly, but evenly, distribute the four pieces (mix and match flavors!) and then let 'er rip! Almost instantly, you get perfect carnival-style cotton candy. I find it best to just keep the cone at a 45 degree angle, place it about half-way into the unit, and rotate the cone in my hand. It makes a great serving of yummy cotton candy! Not at all hard to clean. I'm not sure why so many reviews mention a poor fitting lid. Ours works fine. This is a great little unit, perfect for parties and movie night.

Works great and a great price. Only negative would be the bowl. It doesn't securely sit on the machine, so as it begins to spin the bowl wobbles. Not so much that it comes off but enough to create a noise. I had my daughter help me by holding the bowl firmly in place. Cotton candy tastes great! Would definitely recommend.

Just used this for the first time tonight. It was exciting to be making cotton candy at home! Pros; Fun, kids loved it, easy to set up and easy to use. Cons; the cord is short, I had to use an extension cord. No biggie, but a small annoyance. A thick ring of sugar builds up, collects and hardens in a ring around the bowl. I had to keep scraping it off, otherwise the cc wouldn't flow right. (Don't eat any amber colored pieces, taste like nasty burnt sugar) so far I have only tried jolly ranchers. Maybe that's the problem, they're too sticky? Also 2 jr's was not nearly enough to make even a medium sized cone. With all that said, the fun outweighs the cons. My kids were pretty excited about it. My 8yr old had the idea to buy Dum Dum suckers for all the different flavors and just break the stick out. So we are totally gonna try that next! For $20 I think this will pay for itself over and over.

I got this item on a sale and I thought it would be nice to have for my kids when they wanted a nice sweet treat.. this is more like a kid's toy than a practical item.. it's a cute gift for a girl who like cotton candy.. my kids enjoy the treat

This was a Christmas gift to someone. They used it once and the button broke off. Now it's trash. For the money I should've gotten a gift card. Do not buy!

Item arrived damaged. Followed instructions to preheat before use;immediately overheated and started smoking. It stopped functioning and burned out before I even added product.

This product was purchased on-line from Wal-Mart.com for a Christmas gift. After assembling the product it was plugged in and turned on. It rotated but never heated up. We left it on for approximately fifteen minutes and it did not even get warm. Unfortunately we were not even able to use it.

It worked decently well for the first about 5 times I used it, but after that, a layer of sugar melted and got stuck in the spinner, and now it just doesn't work. I have tried cleaning it, but there is no way to get into that thin crack to scrape out the melted sugar, without breaking the spinner.

I followed manual directions like turned on for 15 min before i put candies and when i put candies they just melted.(no cotton candy). Cleaned everything as instucted in manual and turned on again it's dead. My son was waiting for it and it's came and gone.

This was supposed to be the highlight of this Xmas and it was the only present my 4 year old really wanted. I did a ton of research prior ordering this particular one. Had it shipped to the local store, picked it up easily. But once we opened the box, my husband quickly realized that there is the top rim, that protects the sugar from splashing around, missing. We didn't even give it a try because I saw that would be a huge disaster. What a disappointment!!! Luckily we had few other presents that save the joy... Returned it back to store in a huge line. Now it's out of stock...
