Overall, I am pretty happy with the Nostalgia red electric ice shaver. I love the red and white color, and have found it really easy to keep clean and no staining. It works great for shaved ice, snow cones or slush drinks. The stainless steel cutting blade quickly creates snow-like ice. I love that it comes with a snow cone cup holder to help keep your snow cone cup secure, but that you can also remove the cup holder to allow for a bowl to sit there to catch the shaved ice. It's easy to add the ice cubes in the top of the ice shaver, and just push down on the on button. It also comes with an ice mold that you can just fill with water and freezer, then place the mold inside the machine and it will shave the entire block of ice. I like that the whole unit can come apart for easy cleaning and is made of a durable plastic. I think this will hold up well over time and has already been working really well for my family! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable and simple to use ice shaver!

I was pleasantly surprised with the Nostalgia Electric Snow Cone Maker. This little appliance is made of durable plastic, with a strong, stainless steel blade that shaves ice into super fine snow with the simple push and hold of a button located on top of this machine. I love that this machine can be used with regular ice cubes as well, and that it comes with a reusable ice mold that you can just fill with water and pop it into the freezer to create an ice disc that fits perfectly inside the snow cone machine. I have tried both options and they both create perfectly fine shaved, snow-like ice, the only difference is that the ice shaving process is smoother with the ice disc, and slightly bumpier and louder with ice cubes. There are two small suction cups underneath the machine that help keep the snow cone maker in place on the countertop while in use. Setting up this fun little snow cone maker is quick and easy, everything is included, even a reusable plastic cone for the shaved ice. All you will need to purchase additionally will be the colorful syrup flavors to create your own delicious snow cones just in time for the warmer season coming up! Great purchase, I highly recommend it!

This product brings back fond memories from my youth. I remember as a child loving shaved ice with cherry syrup in a cheap paper cone cup. So simple but so delicious! This product does that. It comes packaged well, and unpacks easily. It is very simple to put together. It has a main body. A cone holder clips into the bottom half to hold a cone, or can easily be removed to place a cup there. It comes with a reusable plastic cone. There is the motor/blade attachment for the top. Interestingly, it comes with an ice mold. You can crush regular ice cubes in it, but if you want a perfect fit, with uniform ice, you can fill the mold and place it in the freezer. Now to the use of it. I placed several ice cubes in the top of the main body. The motor/blade part rests on top of the ice. As you power the blade, you push down to push ice through the blade and into the cone. The motor is powerful and the blades make uniform shaved ice. The motor doesn't vibrate, and feels secure in your hands. It easily shaves the ice. It makes delicious, easy treats. You can buy different syrups to flavor the ice. As it is ice, the cleanup is easy and minimal. My children love this treat, as do I. I would definitely recommend it!

Included in the booklet is a list of ideas and recipes for how to use the shaved ice. * Cleaning the unit is pretty easy, but hand wash only. The machine portion, with the motor, cannot be submerged in water. It's easy to wipe clean and the moving parts can be rinsed easily. The other parts can be cleaned with soap and water. *This machine is designed for making smaller, personal use amounts. The plastic parts are fine, but not overly durable. * It does take a moment to get a feel for how to use the shaver. Once you get the feel for how to arrange the large pieces of ice, it's easy to use. Overall this is a cute little ice shaver! My kids and I enjoyed making our own sweet syrups and having snow cones. So yummy!

My kids and I use this it works really well. Having little ice thing works out great makes perfect size ice cubes. My kids are asking if they can use it the summer for making snow cones and trying to sell them I think that's a great idea it's really simple to use. It is light weight and very durable.

There is nothing like a snow cone machine at a birthday party. This was a great priced compact item I'm glad we got. You must buy the syrups and paper cones separately. None are included. It does come with a reusable hard plastic cone, but unless you are making just one for one person, it isn't enough. However I found a much better use for the reusable cone. The paper cones I purchased didn't hold as securely in the holder as I'd like. They are flimsy paper and perhaps there might be better options to purchase. What I ended up doing was putting the paper liners inside the reusable one that it came with to help stabilize. The ice cubes my refrigerator makes are giant. They didn't shave as easily as the ice cubes that came in the bag. The purchased bag ones were smaller and easier for the machine to process. The kids loved it, once we worked out the little things we were able to make them quite quickly. It's not overly bulky so easy to store.

My daughter asked for this, she loves to be in the kitchen and loves shaved ice. This shaver is super easy to use and the ice mold is a great, no mess way for her to make a sno-cone on her own. The reason I gave this 4 stars is because for some reason every time we use it, it trips the outlet and we have to re-set them. This makes it necessary that I am always available while she uses the machine because she doesn't know how to do that on her own.

I received the Nostalgia Red Electric Ice Shaver. Also known as, "snow cone maker". This is a simple tool to make great, ice shaved drinks with. The main part of this appliance is the stainless steel blade and the stainless steel plate. The plate has 4 raised sections to grip into the ice as it is pushed down to be shaved off by the blade. The height of the unit is 13 inches tall. It has an electric cord that is 31 1/2 inches in length. The unit comes with an ice mold that fits frozen ice into the shaving section. However, I am sure you will be making treats using more ice than what one mold can hold. That being said, regular ice cubes can be used in the unit. It also come with one plastic snow cone holder. I thought this was a bit silly. Because, I am sure you will be making more that one snow cone at a time. If you can't find the paper cups for the snow cones, you can actually fit a small cup in the section once you remove the cone holder. No flavoring comes with the kit. If you can't find the flavoring in a store or online, there are some recipes online.

Horrible, waste of time and money! You can only use ice that's made with the one small mold provided with the machine, so if you want to make multiple cups of shaved ice I'd advise you start making ice with the one mold weeks in advance (one ice block makes about 2 6oz cups of shaved ice). It absolutely does not work with regular ice cubes… I have 4 kiddos, can you imagine the disappointed looks on their faces when I gave 2 of them shaved ice and the other 2 got none( because I was depending on the machine to work with regular ice cubes)!!! I am definitely returning this item! We even tried to break down ice cubes thinking they were too big for the machine, nothing works but ice made with the mold. Only good point was the texture of the shaved ice was awesome very light and snowy, not just shaved crunchy ice.
