Product came with bands, loose and falling off. That holes slats together. Some tax were bent. I was able to repair them and keep the unit rather than send it back
Unit is cheaply made...the gold trim is put on with decorative thumbtacks...used 1 time and bottom trim came off...woodlike slats on plastic container...motor cord is very short...it did freeze me ice cream to soft stage after 30 minutes. for the price, I'd recommend to purchase a reputable brand for a little more $.
I've use this freezer twice, the first time it wasn't full I churned it for 6 hrs and it did not freeze at all. The second time was a full and it was better but didn't get real firm. My older unit never had a problem like the tub was made of steal. This one is made of aluminum. I'm not sure if that is the difference.
After first opening the box, I noticed my lid was warped. I had to use the maker anyway because I already had my ice cream mixture made, and ready to go. The lid did not sit down on the canister the way that it should in a little bit of the ice cream came out from under it. When I picked up the maker after it was finished one of the wooden slats slid down because it wasn't attached and I guess I didn't notice anything until it was cold and seemed to shrink the wood down or something. The maker itself worked fine and my ice cream was actually done in about 35 minutes so I was happy with that but I would definitely like a new lid or I'll have to send the whole thing back in order to get a lid that isn't warped and hopefully wood slats that don't slide off
Bought as a birthday gift for my daughter in law. She loves it, and has made several flavors of ice cream. It is simple to use and doesn't require lengthy freeze time for the canister.
I loved taking this out of the box it smells amazing ( the wood). However I was unfortunate and the motor on the one I received wasn't working properly, so I returned it in store and bought the $20 nostalgia ice cream maker and I will say I can definitely tell a difference. It's better to me than the $20 version so I would definitely recommend this maker over that one. The ice stayed colder, it was quieter, slightly longer cord, really nice handle, and it was nice to look at. I hate that I was impatient and didn't wait for a replacement to be shipped, now I have a cyan blue plastic tub that gets water everywhere from ice melting 🤣 I will be purchasing again once I get over my regret lol
Works well! Only downside is no on-off switch and you cant exactly tell when its done mixing and have to add extra stuff either at the end or beginning because the lid doesnt open to add things into the canister as its churning. Works well otherwise.
Made our first freezer of ice cream this afternoon. It turned out delicious. Made a three ingredient new recipe called “ mock Wendy's chocolate smoothie “ 2 quarts whole chocolate milk, 1 can Eaglebrand condensed milk and 1 8oz cool-whip. That's it!! New ice cream freezer ran quietly and shut off when ice cream was ready. Took about 30 minutes. Highly recommend the Nostalgia series!!
I make a lot of ice cream so I thought I would buy a backup one. First time I made it in this maker it took an hour and still wasn't done. I even put the container in the freezer before I put the mix in it. I thought it was something else I did. So the next time I did it, I made the mix the night before and chilled it in the frig. and it still took an hour and wasn't done. My conclusion was that the paddles that come with it are worthless, cuz they don't have enough paddles to even push the ice cream around. They are too straight. I had no problem with the motor.
We love Chik-fil-et ice cream but want organic. Found a close recipe. The machine works fine. Love that it makes a full gallon. It really takes an hour until the machine cant turn the canister anymore. I found it is important to mix ingredients in the canister and put them in the fridge until cold before putting it in the machine. Finally, if you can't control yourself, don't start making ice cream. 1/2 cup is between 250 - 320 calories, depending on recipes. It's just a nice finish to a meal.
