This works seamlessly with my older monitor. There is no loss of quality which is great. The device feels sturdy and you can tell it's well made. At least this adapter has a cord. The other ones I bought were a solid one piece that screwed on to the VGA port on back of monitor. This one plugs into the computer so you can use an older VGA extension cable to the back of your giant screen tv and use it as a monitor.
Maybe you have gotten a the VGA conversion for the other end of a display cord instead, but no problem and this does work well, even if the original VGA cord is pretty fat.
works great with another adapter to connect my phone to the older style computer monitor. Be aware that the HDMI is the standard size and not the smaller size. It will be great to hook up as a second monitor for the newer computers that don't have the standard ports. definitely recommend
