This is the best tasting chicken base on the market
You have seen the commercials on tv for Better Than Bouillon, and that is how I first became aware of this tasty chicken base. I cook quite a few items every day for 7 people in my home, and I know I use this Chicken Base every day in something. Use in any soups, stews, casseroles, etc. I like to cook canned beans in a pan, with a little bit of t his Better Than Bouillon and garlic to add more flavor. It really is a regular kitchen staple for me, as it adds a lot of flavor. When I boil chicken to use in recipes, I always add a tablespoon of Chicken Better Than Bouillon, because it really is. Better than bouillon!
I'm on a strict low sodium diet so I thought this would meet my need. It doesn't. There is still over 600 mg of sodium in a serving, serving size one tablespoon. So to compromise, I only used one teaspoon in 8 ounces of water as a broth and it was quite tasty. I learned a good lesson though, even though a product says it's low sodium, beware and check the label because it isn't always true!
If you haven't tried Better than Bouillon bases, what are you waiting for? I always have the roasted chicken, beef and vegetable on hand...always. The other flavors I've tried (sautéed onion, lobster, roasted garlic, ham) are all wonderful as well, I just don't use those as much. I also love that they have some in reduced sodium, since we are watching our salt intake.
I had always bought the boxes of chicken broth. I was using 4 to 5 a week depending on what was on the menu. I bought a jar of Better Than Bouillon RS Chicken base to use instead. I used hot water out of the faucet and dissolved a teaspoon of the base. It dissolved quickly and I was able to make enough each time without have the box taking up room in the refrigerator with leftover broth. I store it in the pantry until the first use then in the refrigerator. I don't use the stove but I'm sure you could. I also have seen it put directly into the liquid you are cooking with. I don't make gravy but I'm sure it would be great with this because it tastes great. I get the RS because that's what type of boxed broth I used. I try to cut down salt if possible. Try it you'll love the convince.
I wish they just made all of these with less sodium, the chicken flavor is still great but not as bad for you, too much sodium is so bad for your body and kidneys. And why is it more expensive for less sodium, I mean that just means they use less salt when making the product right ? Hard for people to eat healthier when the better for you stuff is more expensive and for no reason other than greed. Just make them all lower sodium
i have been using Better than Bouillion for a number of years. I like to use the low sodium version which is often difficult to find. Once i found I could order it from Walmart online. I was very pleased with the availability within 24 hours.
A great low sodium alternative.I can have my chicken flavor without alot of sodium. Saw this product reviewed on ATK. Pleasantly surprised when I opened the jar. So much easier to store in the fridge too. I will have to try the beef version too.
LOVE THE PRODUCT BUT CAN'T HANDLE THE SALT CONTENT! MAKE A LOW SALT OR SALT SUBSTITUTE VERSION PLEASE! I am glad they asked about salt because that is the ONLY problem with this product!
Ordered but got vegetable broth instead and that was FIVE YEARS OUT OF DATE. Somebody is not checking the merchandise for expiration dates. Sloppy customer service.
