Black Kow Organic Compost and Manure, Soil Conditioner, 1 cu. ft.

I've always loved Black Cow. I haven't needed it in years, but it's still just as great years later. This year, I needed it to mix with my soil and sand for growing blueberry bushes in grow bags. Beware, it can contain pretty meaty rocks or small bits of plastic. I've been able to pick stuff out when I see it, maybe 2-3 pieces per bag. Despite that, I still highly recommend.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this big box store manure compost. I purchased along with a different brand bag of manure compost and it's definitely superior in color, smell, texture, and moisture. The Black Kow is very dark, nearly black, and has no foul odor just a nice earthy smell like healthy compost. Very moist and very few if any larger chunks or sticks. I make my own compost but ran out and needed help filling some new pots in my vegetable garden, this is definitely the brand I'll plan to use in the future if needed.

Compared to other types of composted manure I have used, this was pretty decent. Some brands are full of wood chips and sand, while this was mostly dark, composted material containing only small bits of wood. Keep in mind this is not all manure, but composted with "soil". As such it has very low NPK nutrient content. If you want higher nutrients you will have to pay more for actual manure, not composted manure. I thought this good for the price.

On the bags it only says it's composted cow manure. Upon opening the bags I found it to be completely waterlogged, such that it would not have blended into the soil. I spread it out on plastic sheet to dry. That's when I discovered the chunks of tree branches and rocks the size of my fist. I contacted the producer and they refunded part of t purchase price. It should not be sold with the only thing listed on the package being cow manure. It's effacy as a soil amendment remains to be seen.

I bought 5 bags this spring and found it contains large rocks. You are paying for rocks, not compost. How tragic. I should have listened to the other reviews.

Website specification states bag weight at 35 pounds. But upon delivery bag reads 28 pounds. False advertisement. Especially when trying to find the best deal for your dollar at these times.

I asked the driver to place the items, including the Black Kow, in the bin on the porch. When I went to retrieve the items, I found that the bottom of the bin was covered in water, which had leaked from the Black Kow. I don’t understand why retailers sell customers tainted products at full price or even send customers tainted products. This is bad service. Otherwise, I rate the driver 5 stars.

If you're looking for a gardening product that has twice as much chlorine than N,P, or K, then this is the product for you. Wish I had read the label before purchasing. also, it is not OMRI listed organic, so the cow poop probably contains traces of toxic pesticides.

About 25% of the volume is sticks, some very big, then I found some rocks, clay pieces and other materials like sand, one piece of fresh cow patty and one piece plastic. This is not a great deal at all, considering you either need to sift through the sticks or put it as it is, and it will deplete nitrogen from your plants as it decays! Will not buy again.

Huge difference between Hone depot and Walmart quality. This is not even worth $2 a bag. Do not buy this from Walmart. Below average quality. 90% is mulch. Very disappointed.
